WOW! A SECOND QUESTION CORNER? FINALLY? AFTER ALMOST TWO YEARS?
First off, my apologies for it taking so long to get to this, but if it isn’t obvious, I am a very busy man with a lot of things going on, and a lot of things had to take priority over this. HOWEVER, just because I haven’t done this in a long time, doesn’t mean that any of your questions were forfeit! I still have all the e-mails and mail from you guys and have been keeping them for an occasion such as this! So let’s get straight to the questions, shall we?
Oh, and second of all, as usual, if your question isn’t on here, please consider the following; someone asked it or it’s been addressed on an earlier part or different part of the website, it was an extremely personal or inappropriate question that doesn’t belong on here, it’s no longer relevant (some questions were related to 2014 and early 2015 after all), it will be answered in Question Corner #3 or a future Question Corner, and I’m not just going to answer a whole bunch of “Will you LP this game?” questions on here. If I have something special or unique to say about the game, I may answer it, but just try to avoid those questions.
And one final thing, feel free to ask more questions via the Question Corner section of my Contact page. I promise it won’t take this long to get to them anymore.
Q: “Will you subscribe to/follow me on Youtube/Twitter/etc.?”
A: This is a very good question….the type of question that probably belongs on one of my other FAQs, so I’ll consider putting this there too. Simple answer with no explanation; no! However, I understand the difficulty of trying to get yourself out there on social media and Youtube, so I’ll at least go into a little more detail with my answer. The reason I say no is because simply asking for followers and subscribers kind of defeats the purpose of what those functions are for. When you see someone you are interested in and someone who you want to keep following and someone you will be notified of whenever they post something new, you follow them or subscribe to them; and to me, that’s what those options are there for and nothing else. Yeah, there will probably always be someone who has more subscribers and followers than you, but in an extremely blunt and honest way…they kind of earned that by posting interesting content that a bunch of other people want to see more of. Not to say that your content isn’t as good or as interesting, but they’ve obviously done something that has made them more viral than you, and while I think it’s normal to be a bit envious and almost a little jealous of them, don’t think of it as a loss, think of it as an opportunity to come back later and try posting some other content and trying to build up your own gang of subscribers. Almost 98% of the time, subscription and follower growth will be positive and not negative (if it’s negative, you are doing something terribly wrong). So just keep at it and try to earn your followers the natural way. So while I’m not following you now, who is to say I won’t be following you in the future? Wouldn’t you rather be in a position to say, “Wow, this person is following my stuff because they are interested in it,” as opposed to “Wow, this person is following my stuff because I asked them to!” Yeah….no offense, but the former is probably what you should be going for, not the latter.
Q: “What are your chances of doing Super Princess Peach?”
A: You may want to re-read your question and remind yourself of WHO YOU ARE ASKING! Haha, just kidding! Hell, if anything, Super Princess Peach actually kind of intrigues me as a video game. I got to watch a playthrough of it on the SpeedGamers Mario marathon last year, and honestly, it looked really fun! It reminded me of a combination of Yoshi’s Island meets The Legendary Starfy! However, as it stands right now, I can’t exactly LP DS games on a regular basis, not to mention that I don’t even have the game either. But I would consider it if I had it.
Q: “Do you plan on doing a Kirby’s Adventure/Nightmare in Dream Land Let’s Play, and if so what version?”
A: Once again, I am modifying the question a little to make it a little less “Will you Let’s Play this game?” and more of a question that is probably a bit more appropriate. At some point yes. As for version, probably Kirby’s Adventure and I would do it alongside a marathon of other classic NES games. I could potentially take a look at Nightmare in Dream Land too and any differences it may have (heck, isn’t there a Meta Knight mode or something?), but until then, it’ll come when it comes.
Q: “Will you Let’s Play (Insert Game Here)?
A: Ok, I should really just use this as a template for any questions like this in the future that don’t get answered, because my answer is going to pretty much be the same (unless I have something unique to say about the game in question). If I don’t have the game, I can’t LP it. If I do get the game and if it’s something I feel like playing for you guys, I will! However, I’m not going to do a game just for the sole purpose of doing it. I have to feel it inside my heart! So basically, if you ask a question like this in the future, and you don’t get a response, it’s because I don’t have it, nor have I played it yet either (or in some cases, I already have Let’s Played it, in the long process of me answering these overdue questions, lol).
Q: “Have you played Fire Emblem: Awakening?”
A: Yes I have! As a Fire Emblem game, it’s pretty solid! Not my favorite Fire Emblem game, but it is a great collaboration of old and new mechanics into a solid 3DS title!
Q: “Do you plan on posting any columns like “Are We Sexist Enough Yet?” in the future? It was a good read and I enjoyed it!”
A: First off, thank you! Second, I would like to, and again, this would have been more appropriate back in the day when I was actually trying to update my site more regularly. Major apologies for that by the way. Anyway, yeah, I would like to write more articles like that, but as it stands right now, it’s going to need to be when A) I’m in the mood to, and B) if I can get back on track with making articles on a regular basis.
Q: “What is your status on M-rated games for the channel?”
A: As it stands right now, I have done a few M-rated games on my channel, namely Darksiders and The Walking Dead. I’ve really enjoyed doing those games, although they are probably not my most-viewed projects on my channel….not even close. As a rule of thumb, on my channel, I do what games I want to do and what I’m in the mood for. If it comes down to M-rated games….if I want to do a particular one, I will. If not, I won’t. And as it stands, there are probably way more E-rated games I feel like doing than M-rated games, so I’ll probably be playing those odds. Not to say that the channel will be completely void of M-rated content either.
Q: “If you had time to pick at least one game to play during your free time, which one will that be?”
A: It would probably have to be Super Mario World, my favorite game of all-time! I can’t get enough of that game and I love challenging myself to play through it and beat it in a variety of different ways, namely in a speed setting! =P It’s always good fun!
Q: “What are the roots of your hatred for Peach?”
A: It all stems from Mario Party. No matter what, whenever I get screwed in a Mario Party game, for the longest time, whenever Peach was in the game, SHE WAS ALWAYS THE REASON! And over the last 16 or so years, that hatred has grown into what it is now. Which is funny, because in most other games, I don’t really mind Peach at all.
Q: “Is there a video game you like to play but refuse to let’s play for your channel?”
A: Dynasty Warriors 2-6. As much as I love these games, I’m just not sure how to go about them for a Let’s Play. I’d like to show off all the characters and their story modes and how to obtain their best weapons and everything, but the amount of repetition required for that…….I just don’t know where to begin.
Q: “What sports do you enjoy?”
A: I love Golf. Golf to me is just so much fun to watch and play. I also enjoy playing Basketball, Soccer and Tennis, but not to the same extent as Golf.
Q: “What were some of your favorite cartoons growing up as a kid?
A: The cartoons I watched were mostly Nicktoons. I watched Rugrats, Doug, Hey Arnold, Rocko’s Modern Life, and when it finally came out years later….Spongebob Squarepants!
Q: “Have you played Goldeneye 007 for the N64?”
A: Yes I have! It’s quite literally the only first-person shooter game I enjoy! I’m still not great enough to beat Secret Agent though.
Q: “Any plans on playing Kirby’s Return to Dreamland for the channel?”
A: This will probably be the next Kirby game I play for my channel. It will either be this or Kirby’s Adventure, but most likely this!
Q: “What ever happened to MegaFreak400?”
A: I realized how much I truly loved him and how I didn’t want anyone else to have him, so I captured him and locked him in my kitchen cabinet. In reality, he just didn’t have the time to do Let’s Plays anymore and kind of just phased them out of his life. I still talk to him on occasion and still consider him a really great friend. I miss his videos though. =(
Q: “What would you say is a good amount of subscribers for one year of gaming?”
A: At this point it’s hard to say. Getting noticed on Youtube is a lot harder than it used to be, especially with how oversaturated Gaming and Let’s Playing is. I can’t really give you a number. Just be happy with the fans you have and remember that they are there for YOU! Kind of a corny answer, but….whatever! =P
Q: “What new characters do you want to see for Super Smash Bros?”
A: King K. Rool, the return of Ice Climbers, Star Wolf, and Solid Snake, Krystal from Star Fox (as long as she is not a copy/paste clone of other Star Fox characters), a Fire Emblem character that doesn’t have a sword, the Splatoon Inklings, Shovel Knight, Banjo Kazooie, and Simon Belmont. Just to name a few.
Q: “What are your thoughts about the Ace Attorney series?”
A: I have not played any of them, but they look like fun games to play. I’d like to take a stab at them someday!
Q: “Do you think Nintendo has been slacking off when it comes to their lack of presence at conventions and other media events?”
A: I don’t know if I could really say they are slacking off persay, but I do agree that cutting their own attendance at these events doesn’t help. It’s a great way to see gamer response and interact with their loyal consumers. They should be doing a lot of that, honestly.
Q: “What was your motivation to get into programming?”
A: I’m a weird person to ask about that because I was never really a great programmer. But for me, it just interested me in how games and software get developed and I wanted to learn more about it, even if it wasn’t my strong suit. That kind of motivation can take you a long way.
Q: “In episode 2 of Mario Party Advance, you referenced My Little Pony. Are you awesome or something?”
A: Uhhhh, yeah!”
Q: “What kind of music are you into and what are you’re favorite bands/artists?”
A: I am a huge fan of 80’s Pop and Rock music. Some of my favorite bands and artists consist of Queen, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Journey, Def Leppard, Cheap Trick, REO Speedwagons and Foreigner.
Well, that’s it for Round 2 of the Question Corner! I’ll have Question Corner #3 at the end of the week which will pretty much round out all of the questions I missed out on from the first one til now. Please send me some more questions though, because after Edition #3, I won’t have any more remaining and will need to build up my stock again.
Will you ever LP Quest 64? Also when you do DKCR: Tropical Freeze will you be going for all puzzle pieces again?
And one final question: have you ever played Gex the Gecko for game boy color?
Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.
@Walter: Please, if you don’t mind, ask your questions on the Contact Form located in my “Contact & Links” section and not here. That’s the reason I have that section! =P
I hope #3 also has a question about you being awesome. That needs to be a recurring theme.
Sorry Slim! I did not realize and will copy my question into the contact question. Thank you.
