Game: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island
Start Date: January 17th, 2010
Runtime: 10 hours
Videos: 65
The Mario series has come a very long way, and although his games started on arcade machines and the NES, this game showed us that Mario went on adventures even when he was a little baby! Even before they could be delivered to their parents, Baby Mario and Luigi were separated, with Mario ending up on the back of his future friend Yoshi while Luigi was captured by a koopa wizard named Kamek. It’s up to Yoshi to find and rescue Baby Luigi and and send the babies to a proper home so they could have a nice Italian upbringing.
This was the fifth “replay” project I did on my channel, as I had done some videos for the game at a prior date, but due to the bad (camcorder) quality of the project, with no commentary to boot, I decided to redo the project with a modern spin. The older videos are no longer available on my channel.
I normally did not like doing replays back-to-back, but due to the success of Kirby Super Star and people wanting more from the SNES era, I couldn’t ignore the demand for another high quality SNES game, and Yoshi’s Island was the perfect candidate! The project was quite a challenge to overcome, as getting 100% in this game is quite the daunting task, but when you stick a game from my childhood in front of my face, you are never going to hear any complaints from me!
This project also featured some content from the Game Boy Advance remake “Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi’s Island,” as I showcased the six bonus levels that were exclusive to only that port of the game. This content was shown later, long after the project was finished.
