Nintendo got on a bit of a retro-kick during the late Wii and early Wii U era, releasing many games that went back to their roots and the New Super Mario Bros. games were the most obvious candidates of that. New Super Mario Bros. 2 was the third of four NSMB titles, and is perhaps the game that gets the most flak for this type of mindset. It doesn’t change the formula very much at all and adds millions and millions of coins to compensate for it. There’s also another story of Bowser kidnapping the princess somewhere in there, but Mario might be too busy collecting coins to notice it. Oh well, at least it’s another Mario game, right?

This was pretty much the last New Super Mario Bros. game I needed to cover before being done with the series. I might go back to the Wii U and cover New Super Luigi U at some point, but as far as the main four, this was really just a matter of taking care of loose ends. I’m admittedly looking more forward to getting to the Mario 3D games, which can only mean that Super Mario 3D Land should be on the horizon at some point soon! Until then though, hope you enjoy another Mario playthrough. With all my teasing aside, I do think this is a very good playthrough and I did have a bit of fun going back to this game because I didn’t remember much of it.

It’s time for another party day at Peach’s Castle, but once again, before the group can even taste the delicious cake in the oven, Bowser attacks and takes over Peach’s Castle, tossing our heroes to the other side of the world. It’s a whole new world for our heroes to explore and this time the adventure will feature all new power-ups and game mechanics. I hope you guys are ready to fly through the newest installment of the New Super Mario Bros. series!

Figuring out what my next project was going to be was kind of difficult. I wanted to cover a game that was more modernized, yet recognizable, and I didn’t have very many choices. I ended up staring at my Nintendo Wii U system for awhile before I realized that the system hadn’t gotten much play time from me, despite having a very good launch game. I put two and two together and decided to cover my very first Nintendo Wii U game (in both inside and outside of LP projects), New Super Mario Bros. U!

Mario and his friends sure love to have a good race, and after the success of Super Mario Kart on the SNES, Nintendo was happy to keep the engines going on their next console. Mario Kart 64 brought some new and really innovative tracks and reworked a classic arcade racer into a multiplayer fun-fest. I hope you guys are ready to race, because lakitu is about to wave that checkered flag.

Although Super Mario Kart was my entrance into the Mario Kart series, I feel like this title is what completely sealed myself into loving it. Because of this, how could I not do it? Now if you will excuse me, I think Princess Peach just threw a red shell at me and now I need to knock her off the Wario Stadium jump.

What happens when you take a racing game and fill it with all kinds of Mario characters and items? You get a recipe for absolute chaos! The Mario Kart series is known for being one of the most addictive Mario spin-offs you can ever find and this is a statement that was still true even for its first installment.

As much as I love the Mario Party series, I was running out of Mario Party games to play on my channel. As a result, I decided to go to another spin-off to get my fix. Mario Kart is a series I’ve been playing since my youth, even being the owner of the very first Mario Kart game which I played religiously with my father. Although I can’t promise any narrow-margin victories like we’ve seen in Mario Party, this race does get extremely intense!

An evil extraterrestrial villain named Tatanga has invaded Princess Daisy’s kingdom and it’s up to Mario to save her and her people in his first handheld adventure. Watch out for exploding koopa shells, and use Mario’s new Superball ability in this classic, nostalgic adventure!

This was another short platformer I wanted to cover for a weekend mini-project (much like Kirby’s Dream Land) and it was short enough to last a single day! Once again, there isn’t a whole lot to say about this, as I mainly wanted to cover it so I had the entire Super Mario Land series under my belt (although I had plans to redo Super Mario Land 3, later that year), but if you are in the mood for a playthrough of a very nostalgic game, let this one be your pick!

┬áSo it turns out the American version of Super Mario Bros. 2 wasn’t the same as what the Japanese got, claiming that the original Super Mario Bros. 2 was way too hard for American gamers. Thankfully though, this gaming experience wasn’t lost on us, as Nintendo of America was nice enough to include it for the very first time in the Super Mario All-Stars cartridge. Now, let’s see what this game REALLY has in store for us! =D

This is a project done in conjunction with three other games as part of the Super Mario All-Stars Let’s Play. I had just finished Radiant Dawn at this point and wanted to take it easy before I got back into any major games, so I figured a run-through all of the classic NES Mario games was in order!

So we had the game that started it all, and the two games involved in the sequel controversy, but now we have the one that everyone remembers! Super Mario Bros. 3 was a phenomenal success for gamers living in the NES era, with the inclusion of such classic levels, power-ups, enemies, and some of the best 2D platforming you will ever find in gaming history! Can you bring Mario all the way to World 8 and rescue the princess again? You better hit that start button and find out!

Behold, Mario’s first platforming adventure in all of its glory! This is the first game where a plumber from the Mushroom Kingdom goes on a quest to rescue Princess Toadstool from the evil, King of the Koopas, Bowser! Hope you are ready for some classic nostalgia.

After the defeat of Tatanga in Super Mario Land, Mario returns home to find that his castle has been taken over by an imposter named Wario. Wario has sealed the front door shut, and the only way to open the door will require Mario to adventure through the neighboring zones to find the six golden coins that will break the spell and open the door. In this all new portable adventure, Mario will venture into space, glide through the sky with his new “flying rabbit” power-up, and even go exploring in the mouth of a giant turtle; anything to regain his lost home.

This was the second “replay” project I did on my channel, as I had done some videos for the game at a prior date, but due to the bad (camcorder) quality of the project, with no commentary to boot, I decided to redo the project with a modern spin. The older videos are no longer available on my channel.

This was the first Game Boy title I owned for the Game Boy, and much like Super Mario World, this game has a lot of nostalgic value for me and is definitely one of my favorites. It’s not a very long game, but is definitely worth a quick watch if you are interested in one of Mario’s most classic handheld adventures.
