Donkey Kong Land 2

Donkey Kong Land 2

Game: Donkey Kong Land 2

End Date: April 26th, 2018

After the success of Donkey Kong Country 2, it’s no surprise that Rare wanted to keep capitalizing on their successful franchise by putting variations of the game on the Game Boy…despite how strange Donkey Kong Land was by itself. For this game however, Rare spent a little more time emulating Donkey Kong Country 2, down to the very same level names and gimmicks that made the game known. How does this hold up compared to it’s console counterpart?

I needed another short project to bridge the gap between my first two big projects of the year, so once again, I decided to take a trip back to the Game Boy. I told you this was going to be the year of handhelds. I was definitely looking forward to this one though, just because it was the best of the DKL trilogy, from what I remember of it. However…is that really saying much? Let’s find out…

Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty’s Revenge

Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge

Game: Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty’s Revenge

End Date: June 15th, 2017

The dynamic duo has returned, but this is definitely not the latest adventure the classic bear and bird team-up has had. In between their two N64 outings, Gruntilda and her minions were up to no good, even when Grunty was buried under a massive boulder. And now, before the events of Tooie unfold, the colorful cast returns for another mini-adventure on the GBA handheld. It’s the least Rareware could do, you know, considering the next console installment wasn’t going to be on any Nintendo system.

I wanted to do something short before getting into the marathon that will end up being Advance Wars: Dual Strike, and when I was looking through my pile of short projects to do, this was one that caught my eye. It had been awhile since I did Tooie, and who knows when I was going to get my hands on *sigh* Nuts & Bolts. This was a game I found enjoyable, albeit, not as enjoyable as the amazing games that preceded it. Still though, I think it’s worth checking out!

Kirby’s Return to Dream Land

Kirby's Return to Dream Land

Remember when Kirby GCN was a thing for the longest time? Then once the Gamecube era ended and Kirby’s Epic Yarn was the first Kirby platformer since Kirby 64, people wondered whatever the hell happened to that Kirby game we were promised? However, when Return to Dream Land came out, all questions were answered as people flocked to another one of the Wii’s awesome platforming titles. This time with multiplayer posibilities, interesting motion controlled minigames, brand new copy power-ups and a whole lot more.

I think it is safe to say that Return to Dream Land was in the works for a really long time on my channel. However, the timing never felt just right for it until this year when I needed a project to go alongside what was left of the Sacred Stones postgame. So Kirby, you ready for another round of fun in Dream Land?

New Super Mario Bros. U

New Super Mario Bros. U

Game: New Super Mario Bros. U
Start Date: March 11th, 2014
Runtime: 6 hours

It’s time for another party day at Peach’s Castle, but once again, before the group can even taste the delicious cake in the oven, Bowser attacks and takes over Peach’s Castle, tossing our heroes to the other side of the world. It’s a whole new world for our heroes to explore and this time the adventure will feature all new power-ups and game mechanics. I hope you guys are ready to fly through the newest installment of the New Super Mario Bros. series!

Figuring out what my next project was going to be was kind of difficult. I wanted to cover a game that was more modernized, yet recognizable, and I didn’t have very many choices. I ended up staring at my Nintendo Wii U system for awhile before I realized that the system hadn’t gotten much play time from me, despite having a very good launch game. I put two and two together and decided to cover my very first Nintendo Wii U game (in both inside and outside of LP projects), New Super Mario Bros. U!

Kirby Super Star

Kirby Super Star

Game: Kirby Super Star
Start Date: December 19th, 2009
Runtime: 3:58 hours
Videos: 23

Who says that nothing ever happens in the world of Kirby? Well, this game is and will always be the counter point to that statement, because Kirby Super Star is not one, not two, or hell, even three games. This adventure is a collection of seven games (excluding mini-games) featuring nothing but classic Kirby gameplay in new adventures with some very unique twists.

This was the fourth “replay” project I did on my channel, as I had done some videos for the game at a prior date, but due to the bad (camcorder) quality of the project, with no commentary to boot, I decided to redo the project with a modern spin. The older videos are no longer available on my channel.

I wanted to start 2010 with a bang, and with a game like Kirby Super Star, I knew I couldn’t go wrong. It’s a nice and easy game that has a mass appeal with people, mainly due to how easy it is for any gamer to get into, and has and will always have a place in my heart!
