Mario Party had been a clear success on consoles, but after awhile, the developers at Hudsonsoft wanted to take the series and move it on to the Game Boy Advance, which had been a huge financial success at the time. The results were quite…different, to say the least. Anyway, Shroom City has been attacked by Bowser and he has taken all of the world’s minigames and “gaddgets.” It’s up to Mario and his three closest friends to help solve the troubles of Shroom City.

With all of the console Mario Parties being completed at this point, I knew that at some time I would need to take a trip to the handheld games, and after almost a year of no Mario Party action on the channel, I decided to give Mario Party Advance a try. Although it’s very different from the traditional Mario Party formula, even moreso than Mario Party 9, it does have its own charm and I wanted to share it with you guys.

Mario Party 9

You can’t keep a good Mario spin-off down, and when Mario Party started vanishing off the face of the Earth, here comes Mario Party 9 to remind us that the party isn’t over yet. Mario Party 9 was the first Mario Party game in four years (after the eighth game) and with it’s return, brought a number of changes to the formula. Many fans questioned these changes, but when you get down to the nitty-gritty, the fun and mayhem of Mario Party is still quite in existence.

This project was a long-time coming, as many people expected this game to come to my channel in 2012, but due to my large commitment of taking on Fortune Street, I decided to use this game as a buffer in between the two halves of the Fortune Street project. This was a decision that was really rewarding and created, very easily, the biggest high point of my channel in quite awhile.

Pac-Man Party

Mario is known for his crazy parties, but what happens when another iconic video game character decides to throw a party of his own? Some of you might be saying “Sonic Shuffle” or “Crash Bash,” but what if we go back even earlier than those characters? What about Pac-Man? Well, you are in luck, because to celebrate his 30th birthday, Namco would like to introduce, Pac-Man Party!

Despite the teaser at the beginning (where I teased that this would be a Mario Party 9 playthrough), I knew I wanted to play this game for you guys when I first received the game as a Christmas present in 2011. Although it might seem to be another half-baked take on the Mario Party franchise, I do feel that Pac-Man Party does have some very good production values and does have a charm of its own. I don’t think it’s a perfect game (and it could use a variety of improvements), but it’s really fun for what it is and has some creative ideas.

The Star Carnival is in town, and MC Ballyhoo is the host for the festivities. Mario Party is all the rage, and Bowser just might be up to something as well. It’s another stroll down Mario Party lane and this game’s gimmick features the use of Nintendo’s Wii-Motion functionality!

While not much time had passed between my last Mario Party playthrough and this one, I figured it was time to get back into the Mario Party groove to start the year off right! It was quite interesting, making the move from Gamecube partying to Wii partying, but the spirit of Mario Party remained with us as we went along the journey!

The entity of the Sun, Brighton, and the moon spirit Twila, have been playing too much Kirby Super Star, and much in the same fashion as the sun and the moon in that game, the two siblings start to argue and put the world in a state of a day-night hybrid. Mario and his friends are once again in the middle of this dispute, and decide to play Mario Party, but this time with a day and night twist!

It was that time of the year where I knew Mario Party was going to be in demand again, and being the Mario Party nerd that I am, I had no reason not to endulge. With the success of Mario Party 5, I knew I had some big shoes to fill, but at the end of the day, all you need to do is party hard, and then the rest will follow! As usual, I covered all the Party Mode boards and all of the extra features and bonus games.

This project was another viewer fan-favorite, featuring some exciting matches, hilarious moments, and some very memorable results. Let’s just say that this game will truly teach you the importance of every single coin!

In the creation of Mario Land, Mario and his friends argue if Mario Land should even be the name, as everyone wants this new place to be named after them, including the beastly brute Bowser. It looks like whoever will stop the King of the Koopas will earn the privilege of naming this new land! Mario Party 2 is the 2nd installment of the Mario Party series, and it featured new boards, new mini-games, and new game mechanics that took everything great about the first title, and expanded it to new heights!

Although this is the 2nd installment of the series, this playthrough was done after Mario Party 3, 4, and the original (in that order). This is due to the fact that my original playthroughs of both Mario Party and Mario Party 2 were removed by me due to copyright issues, making Mario Party 3 and 4 my earliest Mario Party playthroughs. The original Mario Party 2 playthrough, much like the Mario Party 1 playthrough, can no longer be found on my channel or on the Internet.

I don’t feel like this playthrough achieved the same level of success that Mario Party 1 did, but it was a lot of fun and was a nice follow-up to the first game. This also happens to be my favorite Mario Party game as it introduced a lot of interesting boards, cool mini-games, and some unique features that made the game an unforgettable experience.

Mario and his friends are arguing about who is the true superstar of the bunch. However, when the argument starts to get heated, Toad stops the flame war and decides that the group needs to play a game of Mario Party to determine who the superstar really is. This game was the start of Hudson Soft’s famous Mario Party franchise and was the flagship title that brought all of our favorite board games and mini-games to the gaming world!

Although this is the first installment of the Mario Party franchise, this was not the earliest Mario Party playthrough on my channel. I had previously done both Mario Party and Mario Party 2 (along with Mario Party 3 and Mario Party 4) before I came back to do this replay project. I had some problems with copyright on the original Mario Party and Mario Party 2 projects, so I had to remove the videos, but I did not have to remove Mario Party 3 or Mario Party 4, which makes them the earliest Mario Party projects on my channel. The older Mario Party projects can no longer be found.

This project is definitely one of my favorites of all the projects I have done on my channel. It set-up, established, and continued a lot of long-running jokes that would return in other Mario Party playthroughs and other LPs in general, including my tirade against the one and only Princess Peach!
