Mega Man 10

Mega Man 10

Game: Mega Man 10
Start Date: March 18th, 2019
End Date: April 4th, 2019
Videos: 8

Danger! Danger! A worldwide epidemic is going around in the form of Roboenza; a sickness that is affecting robots. And now, with robot-kind out of commission, our way of life is in danger. Dr. Light and Dr. Wily have now teamed up to find a way to end this virus and it looks like Mega Man is ready once again to take the stage and find a way to fix this as well. However, we have eight more robot masters trying to take us down and another evil that will show it’s face later on…please don’t be Dr. Wily. Please!

I decided to attack Mega Man 10 a bit early this year, just on the off chance that we wouldn’t be side-winded (in a good way of course) with another new Mega Man game. However, this is the last Mega Man game (at least for now) that used this classic 8-bit style, so it’s definitely still the end of an era, somewhat.

Question Corner #11 – 11/18/16

Question Corner #11 - 11/18/16

Hello everybody, SlimKirby here and welcome to another edition of the Question Corner.

It has been awhile since my last update, but to be fair, questions have been slow going again. Honestly, it wouldn’t even surprise me if some of these questions were asked by the same people. Regardless though, I did promise whenever I would get 20 questions, I would immediately update, and here we are!

As usual, if you are interested in submitting a question, please go to the Contact page to submit one. Just remember that I will not be answering any questions that are too personal, questions that have been asked before, most “Will you LP/Have you played this game?” questions, and other questions that just don’t seem appropriate for this section. Also, if you have a question about how to do Let’s Plays or other in-general Youtube questions, check out the SlimKirby’s Workshop section to see if I haven’t answered it there already, as there was a question I got last time that revolved around that.

Anyway, let’s get this started, shall we?

Q: “What are the occupations of your parents?”
A: My mom is an elementary school librarian/media specialist. My dad is an instructor for kids with special needs at a middle school and teaches a few social studies courses on the side. I am very proud of my parents for all the work they do to help children!

Q: “What did you think of the Simpsons and Futurama crossover?”
A: I actually looked into it recently and really enjoyed it. It was fun seeing my two favorite shows come together for a special!

Q: “Who would you save from a burning building? Princess Peach or Princess Daisy?”
A: Do “I” really need to answer that? Haha, well, as you guys know, I like Daisy way better than Peach, so I would be more inclined to save her. However, even though Peach is a big meanieface, I wouldn’t intentionally wish anything like a burning death on her, so if possible, I would try to save both. If this question came down to people in real life, just to make this a little more interesting, I would definitely save my family and friends at all costs. Anybody else? I would do anything I could to help, but I wouldn’t be as motivated to jump in the middle of the flames or anything, if that makes sense.

Q: “What is the best April Fools joke you played?”
A: One time I convinced my dad it was snowing outside and got him to actually jump out of bed early and go to the other room to look. Aside from that, I don’t play a lot of April Fools pranks. Although I do love the “One Hour of Impact” joke I did on my channel a few years ago, when I fooled people into believing I was doing a Radiant Dawn Let’s Play, when it was actually an hour of “I am Impact” from Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon.

Q: “What do you think of Star Fox Adventures compared to other Star Fox games?”
A: Star Fox definitely does better as a space shooter than an adventure Zelda-style game. I do appreciate the attempt to try something new (although it was moreso a different game altogether that didn’t have Star Fox characters until Nintendo got Rare to shoehorn the Star Fox name into the game), but I think Assault was overall the more enjoyable Gamecube Star Fox game. I don’t think Adventures is a bad game necessarily, but it does fall flat in a number of areas that I think Zelda games overall do better anyway.

Q: “Are there any perks to being an only child?”
A: You don’t have to share any of your toys or games with anybody. That’s really about it. Honestly, I think I would have much rather had a brother or sister growing up. I think it would have been more beneficial in developing my social skills because I always felt I was a little too awkward in trying to make friends at school, and aside from my parents, I just didn’t really have anybody to talk to. I suppose it would also be a bit easier for your parents to provide for you too, just because there would be less mouths to feed, less school supplies to be bought and less college funds to provide for, if that makes sense.

Q: “Have you ever listened to the rock band Muse?”
A: I’ve heard a few of their songs. The first time I heard them was through Guitar Hero III, because their song “Knights of Cydonia” is in that game and I always thought it was a pretty fun song to play through. But yeah, they’ve made some good music. Wouldn’t say they are a favorite artist of mine, but definitely not opposed to them either.

Q: “What do you think of the Kirby and Donkey Kong cartoons?”
A: The Kirby cartoon was all right. I wouldn’t say it was anything spectacular, but for what it was, it was watchable, at least in my opinion. The Donkey Kong cartoon on the other hand; again, I can’t say it was bad, but it was definitely a show that’s easier to mock than enjoy.

Q: “What are your thoughts on YouTube’s new advertiser-friendly content guidelines?”
A: I will admit, it is very silly that people like the Nostalgia Critic and the Angry Video Game Nerd, individuals who have spent years establishing themselves as channels with mature content (AVGN especially) can now have their monetization taken away due to updated content guidelines. As far as I’m concerned though, I’m kind of biased just because I try my hardest to keep my channel clean and accessible for all ages, so I don’t think I will personally have any issues. Heck, even my Walking Dead videos have been clear of issues and there are so many mature themes in those games. Otherwise though, I can’t really support the new guidelines, just because of examples like I mentioned earlier.

Q: “Do you think Spanky from Spanky’s Quest would make a good Smash Bros. addition?”
A: No. As fun as the game is, that’s just reaching way too far beyond the realm of possibility. He would have kind of an interesting playstyle though, I guess, lol.

Q: “What are we going to see for your 10th year anniversary”
A: You will definitely see a clip show (as promised) and there will definitely be a marathon stream following. As far as other specials, I’m still thinking. 10 years is a pretty big deal to me, in all honesty. Aside from that, don’t really want to mention anything about it as to keep it a surprise.

Q: “What video game do you find confusing?”
A: The only game I can think of is a game called “Populous” on the SNES, but only because my uncle had the game, but whenever I tried to play it, I couldn’t figure it out. HOWEVER, I was also only like 6-years-old when I tried it, so I would probably have a better understanding of it now.

Q: “Can I adopt you to be my son?”
A: First of all, no. Second of all, I don’t think my parents would be down for that. Third, I think I’m way too old to be adoptable. I appreciate the thought though, I guess…

Q: “How are your workouts coming along?”
A: I stopped going to the gym because I have an exercise bike at home now, but I am keeping up with it on a daily basis, so very well! Thank you! And with the weather getting alot cooler, it’s the perfect time for me to be going outside on more walks. I hate summer and early-fall temperatures.

Q: “What’s your favorite type of cake?”
A: I am very fond of cheesecake. Shoutouts to angel food cake and carrot cake though, as they are also very good in my opinion.

Q: “What’s your favorite and least favorite character in Scrubs?”
A: Favorite character is Dr. Percival Cox. Just a very funny and down-to-earth character that I really respected and loved on the show for who he was. Least favorite character? It’s hard to say, but of the main cast, probably Elliot, just because I couldn’t connect with her as well as some of the other characters, but even she was fine in doses.

Q: “Why do you play games like Walking Dead and not Resident Evil?”
A: For the very simple reason that I don’t have any Resident Evil games. Well…I guess I do have Resident Evil 4 now, but even then, I just haven’t gotten around to playing any of them yet. With Walking Dead, it’s easier because I am a fan of the show and graphic novel so the Walking Dead games appeal to me in a way Resident Evil doesn’t.

Q: “What type of car would you like to own?”
A: I really don’t care much. A car is just a device to get me from point “A” to point “B.” I would like to have a blue car (I own a silver one now since my old blue car is no longer in service), but I don’t need to have one. I guess I would also prefer cars as opposed to trucks and SUVs.

Q: “Why do you use your website as a medium to answer questions as opposed to your Youtube channel?”
A: I just think a website is more appropriate, especially since my website is kind of an archive dedicated to my online life as it is. That’s really all there is to it. Plus I’m not going to lie, it’s easier to write all of this down than get stumbled on various questions trying to think of answers. This way I have some time to think about it.

Q: “Is there a game that came out 10+ years ago that you remember initially loving, but now isn’t as good as you remember?”
A: Honestly, not really. When I go back to revisit old games, the nostalgia always seems to kick in no matter what. I remember Super Mario Kart being a lot easier than it is for me now, but I wouldn’t say it’s a bad game now because I don’t enjoy it as much. Also had a really hard time getting back into Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Mario Sunshine when I did them for my playthroughs awhile back, but again, can’t really say they are bad games, moreso I just don’t have the same enjoyment with them as I used to.

And that will do it for another Question Corner! Thanks everyone for submitting and if we get enough questions in a short period of time, maybe the next issue will be up sooner than this one!

Question Corner #10 – 9/26/16

Question Corner #10 - 9/26/16

Hello everybody, SlimKirby here, and welcome to another edition of Question Corner!

I don’t have much to say this time around. I appreciate people being patient with me and not trying to force me to rush these out. It may not seem like these issues take a lot of work, but when you are constantly and consistently working on Youtube, Twitch and various other mediums, it definitely takes a toll after awhile. If you want to submit a question of your own, please go to the Contact page and send one.

As usual though, make sure your question is appropriate before you send it. Leave all personal and private matters out of the equation. Also, try to avoid very basic “yes” or “no” questions and questions that have a very narrow topic; like questions that ask if I’ve played a certain game series and what my opinion on that game series is (especially if it requires me to play that series, because chances are that I have not played it yet and cannot give an opinion on it. So let’s get this started now, shall we?

Q: “What is your best score at golf?”
A: Nothing spectacular, I’ll tell you that right now. To be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever gotten anything lower than a +15. I have been able to get pars and birdies before, even on Par 4s, but my skill at golf is nothing that amazing.

Q: “How has 2016 been in general?”
A: To be bluntly honest, 2016 hasn’t been that great for me. I wouldn’t say it was the worst year ever or anything, and there have been some really nice highlights (Magfest 2016, Momocon 2016, reconnecting with old friends, etc.), but the year has also been filled with a lot of just very slow to no progression on a lot of different fronts. Finding work has been absolutely terrible, and I don’t even want to get into how depressing the world of politics has defined this year.

Q: “What is your favorite Disney movie?”
A: Hands down, my favorite Disney movie is Aladdin. That’s the first Disney movie I remember seeing at a movie theater, I think it still holds up very well today, and as a child, I had the biggest crush on Jasmine…although admittedly, I still kind of do. Shoutouts to The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast for being solid runner-ups.

Q: “Would you like to see another Mario Kart game like Double Dash?”
A: Would I mind it? No, because Double Dash was fun and it worked very well, but a part of me thinks they don’t need to go in that direction again. The last few Mario Kart games have been very solid and I just don’t think there is a need to drift away from their current trend; no pun intended

Q: “What are your thoughts on Pokemon Gen VII?”
A: I’m excited for Gen 7 and have thoroughly enjoyed all the news and updates about it. Although I think Alolan Exeggutor is stupid, I love all the other Alolan forms and am really curious to see how all of the new Pokemon are going to work and play out. I was also really enjoying the footage we got to see at E3. The interface looks neat and with the additional options and data we can now see inside the game, it just feels like we won’t need to rely on sites like Serebii or Bulbapedia as much. I also appreciate them trying to keep the gameplay fresh, by trying something new for the gym system. Not that there was anything wrong with it, but sometimes just mixing it up a little can be good for a series, because aside from general mechanic updates, Pokemon really hasn’t changed much since Gen 1; at least in terms of going to 8 gyms across the land, stopping the evil team, and becoming League Champion.

Q: “What is your opinion on the direction of the Paper Mario series?”
A: Right now, it’s not good. I was incredibly disappointed by Sticker Star and Color Splash seems to be more of the same which is not what I wanted from Paper Mario. I really do want them to go back to the old days of Paper Mario as I’m sure they will not regret that decision one bit if they do because it seems pretty apparent that it is what people want over what the series is now.

Q: “Do you wish you had magical powers to change some of the stuff in your life?”
A: Definitely! I think everyone secretly wants that power just because it would make things a lot easier for people, despite being extremely unrealistic. Don’t get me wrong, I like putting in the effort to do it myself and it will be more rewarding that way, but just to make the journey a little easier…

Q: “What was the most rage-inducing moment in your gaming career?”
A: I seem to run into a very specific moment in certain games all the time where I attempt a really hard challenge, potentially the hardest challenge in the game, have a really good start, and then just proceed to choke big time, watching that golden moment just fly away from my grasp. One moment recently was when I was playing 100% Orange Juice, trying to beat every single player mode on “Expert.” I was playing the hardest map, I set myself up to win the game, but then for like 10-15 turns, I couldn’t move at all, which pretty much caused me to lose the game. I was getting so mad and frustrated, I created some new profanities in my rage. But that is only just one instance of many that have happened over the years.

Q: “Has the NES Marathon inspired you to do another NES marathon at a future date and time or do a marathon with another classic system?”
A: Honestly, I have already thought about the potential for a follow up NES Marathon next year because this marathon has been a lot of fun to do and there are plenty of NES games I still have to do. As for other systems, maybe, but it’s a little harder with other systems because I definitely grew up with Nintendo games and many of the games shown in the NES Marathon are games where I played a future entry in the series, but not the first one.

Q: “What’s your favorite game from each Nintendo console?”
A: NES – Super Mario Bros. 3, SNES – Super Mario World, N64 – Paper Mario, GCN – Tales of Symphonia, Wii – Super Mario Galaxy, Wii U – Hyrule Warriors, GB – Pokemon RBY, GBA – Fire Emblem, DS – Pokemon Heart Gold, 3DS – Animal Crossing New Leaf

Q: “What inspired you to do the NES Marathon?”
A: Pretty much as stated in the introduction video, I never grew up with the NES and many of the series I love in gaming started on the NES, so I felt it was appropriate to take some time and visit/revisit those games for the channel. And since they are all short games, why not just get them all done in a month?

Q: “How does your family and friends feel about what you do on Youtube?”
A: My parents have always been very supportive of my Youtube channel. In fact, they tell their students about my channel all the time and I have gotten a few new subscribers out of it. My friends are also aware and are very proud of me and think what I do is pretty cool. My other family members are usually the same way, but there are some members of my family who don’t really get or understand it, but they also come from a much different generation than I do.

Q: “Would you ever do another 24-hour Mario Party Marathon again?”
A: Definitely! Not right away, but I would be down to do it again in the future. Heck, I wouldn’t mind doing other marathons either.

Q: “Why do you allow only 20 questions per episode?”
A: At first it was because I was getting a lot of questions at once and thought it would be a good number to cover multiple issues instead of just doing one long issue. If an article/page is too long, some people may not want to read the whole thing.

Q: “What is it like to have your birthday on the day after Christmas?”
A: There’s not really a whole lot to it. On the 25th we celebrate Christmas and on the 26th we celebrate my birthday. Usually the 25th is reserved for a family gathering where we exchange all of our gifts and get to see everybody (and I usually get all my birthday cards/money on that day too), and then my birthday is usually just a celebration with my parents (we go to my favorite restaurant) or my friends. As a kid, this never really affected any gifts I got. I usually got some kind of toy or game for Christmas and some extra money for my birthday. Plus, I was never really that picky or spoiled of a child, so I didn’t put a lot of emphasis on gifts anyway. I was always happy just to have the family together.

Q: “Do you find gorons cute?”
A: Why does it seem like I get a lot of “is this cute?” questions every now and then? Well, regardless, I don’t think they look ugly, necessarily, but I don’t know if cute would be my definition of them.

Q: “Did you keep up with the 2016 Summer Olympics?”
A: Honestly, no, I have not. I’m not really big into professional sports as it is, so I wouldn’t really find a lot of enjoyment out of the Olympics either. I think it’s cool that every few years the entire world gets together to compete, but it’s just not something I would personally watch or invest my time into.

Q: “What game could you play over and over again and never get bored with?”
A: Super Mario World is the definitive answer. I would probably also add Kirby Superstar and Paper Mario to that list as well.

Q: “What is your favorite season of the year?”
A: It’s hard to say, because honestly, I like cool and breezy weather; nothing too hot or nothing too cold. So with that being said, probably either spring or fall. If I had to pick one though, I would probably go for fall, especially the month leading into winter. That always just seems to be a time where I am feeling the best.

Q: “Do you want to visit the Kirby Café?”
A: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD YES! That would be so cool!

I’m going to answer one more question because it’s very relevant to recent happenings and I don’t know when the next Question Corner will be up, so it makes the most sense to address it now when it’s still on my mind.

Q: “Do you watch Big Brother and if so, what is your opinion of the most recentseason?”
A: I’m guessing this question was brought on by a few of the tweets I made over the past few weeks. Anyway, yeah, I do watch the CBS reality show Big Brother. I’ve been a fan since Season 12 when I saw my parents watching it and decided to watch along with them, and I actually found it kind of interesting. From there, I went back, watched all the seasons (some a few times) and have kept up with it every year since. As far as this most recent season is concerned though, I was very disappointed. The season had way too many twists and way too many ways for players to come back into the game after they had already been evicted/kicked out. The returning/veteran players (people who had played before) were terrible choices and they either played terribly or didn’t play the game at all, and the fact that the production staff had tried so hard to rig the game so those players would win or get far was absolutely frustrating. The only saving graces of this year were Paul and Victor who were very engaging to the audiences and very entertaining, and I think it’s an absolute travesty that Paul lost to Nicole, who did nothing but lay in bed with her boy-toy for like….80% of the show. Yeah, she played at the end of the game, and of all sixteen houseguests, she was still probably in the upper-tier of the players, but compared to Paul, she should have lost big time. Paul played the entire game, was always in the thick of things, came up with many strategic moves, won competitions when he had to and laid low when he had to, and doing all of that for a player who had never played or watched the game before was absolutely amazing. Next to Danielle from Season 3 and Vanessa from Season 17, he is one of the greatest players of Big Brother to never win the game. Victor was also a really good player, but didn’t deserve to win because he got evicted three times, although him making history by winning his way back into the house twice was amazing to watch. Aside from that though, I don’t really have much else to say about this season because honestly, it was one of the worst seasons to watch as a fan and I really hope they step up their game for next summer. I’m also not going to watch the CBS All Access version of Big Brother that’s about to debut because I don’t want to pay money to watch a show I normally watch for free.

But yeah, that’s about it for this Question Corner. Like I said before, I don’t know when to expect the next one, so if you want to see the next one as soon as possible, send in those questions because you may get lucky with an early release! Just don’t spam any random question though and try to at least put some thought into it, just so we don’t get a bunch of questions like, “What color are your shoes?” X_X

Question Corner #9 – 8/11/2016

Question Corner #9 - 8/11/2016

Hello everybody, SlimKirby here, and welcome to another edition of Question Corner!

Like I said during the last Question Corner, there was a bit of a backlog I was working with, so I am not surprised at all that this issue came out as soon as it did. I don’t expect the next one to be as immediate though. With that being said, if you want to submit a question of your own, please go to the Contact page and send one.

Let’s get started though.

Q: “What would your reaction be if Nintendo went out of business or got bought out by Apple?”
A: Honestly, I would be sad if Nintendo went out of business. I’ve grown up with Nintendo my entire life and it would absolute devastate me to hear that there would be no more Nintendo games. I mean, even I agree that Nintendo hasn’t been making great decisions lately, but I still enjoy their games regardless. So yeah, it would devastate me. Also, I am ignoring the secondary “Apple” question because…reasons. I just really don’t want to think about that possibility.

Q: “On a scale of 1-10, how cute are lumas?”
A: They are an out-of-this-galaxy, ’11!’ So freaking cute!

Q: “What’s your current opinion of Shigeru Miyamoto?”
A: I think he is a straight-up, honest and lovable guy. Do I think he is as great as he once was in the video game world? Probably not, but I give credit where it’s due and he’s been a part of some of the greatest video games of all time and I can’t ignore that. I think it would be cool to meet him and shake his hand someday, but we’ll see.

Q: “Have you thought about doing a personal documentary for your 10th year anniversary?”
A: That sounds more like a project for when I ever decide to throw in the towel, which won’t be anytime soon.

Q: “In what room do you film your 1-up Box videos?”
A: I normally film them in my office. The room I used in my May video (and one other video) was my bedroom, and the one I used in my July video was the living room.

Q: “What are your favourite levels on both Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie?”
A: In Banjo-Kazooie, my favorite level is probably Freezeezy Peak. In Banjo-Tooie it is definitely Witchyworld. I will give shout-outs to Gobi’s Valley and Grunty Industries for being solid runner-ups though.

Q: “Do you like cats?”
A: Cats are fine. I do like how they aren’t as chaotic as dogs in terms of energy, but I am probably still more of a dog person. At the end of the day though, I probably wouldn’t own either unless it was an absolute requirement of my future spouse, whenever that becomes relevant.

Q: “Do you remember the Fruit Vendor on Seinfield?”
A: Yes…why is this a question?

Q: “Do you see any value on tackling the Super Mario Advance GBA remakes on your channel?”
A: It’s really hard to say just because while there is some unique content for each game…they are still pretty much the same games at the end of the day. Super Mario Advance 1 is probably the most unique of the series, but even I’m not crazy about doing it. I’ve already done the secret levels of SMA3 on my channel as SMW2:YI extra videos. Super Mario Advance 4 has the E-Reader levels (but that’s it). And Super Mario Advance 2, while I think it does have the least amount of changes…it is a port of my all-time favorite game with a mediocre sound chip. So honestly, I have no idea how I want to handle these games, IF I ever even want to do these games.

Q: “What things scare you?”
A: I don’t have any big fears. There are things that can freak me out, but never to extent where I can’t function. Insect infestations, heights, being trapped in a small, secluded space, being alone for a long period of time, dangerous animals…again, all things that are perfectly harmless until the point where I’m actually having to deal with them, which in most cases won’t even happen.

Q: “If you could choose the gender of your child, what would you want first?”
A: Honestly, I would want a boy first just so I could continue the family name. Otherwise, it wouldn’t matter too much and I wouldn’t be disappointed if I ended up only getting girls as my children.

Q: “What is your favourite thing and least favourite thing about making Let’s Plays?”
A: Quite simply, my favorite part of making Let’s Plays is just being able to play the games that I love all over again! As for the things I dislike…the inevitable rough recording sessions where everything goes wrong and makes me feel “meh” about what I’m playing at that moment.

Q: “Should Mario Kart have a drag-racing mode? And as a follow-up, should Mario Kart have racing venues from the real world, like Daytona and Indianapolis?”
A: No. I just don’t find drag racing very interesting. As for the real world racing venues, I feel like the realism would take away from the cartoony and fun fantasy world of the Mario series, so double negative for this question.

Q: “What conventions do you see yourself attending in the future?”
A: As far as 2016 is considered, I’m done with conventions. I’ve already spent all of my available funds for trips this year and need to start saving for next year. As far as next year is concerned, Magfest will be top priority. I am also interested in attending Con Bravo to see some of my Canadian friends, but there is no guarantee yet. Momocon might also be a possibility yet again as well.

Q: “Do you think they should have made a Pokemon Snap 2?”
A: Honestly, I think it’s something that could have been done for sure. Heck, even the Wii U Gamepad software would have been perfect for that. Not to mention that there are over 700 Pokemon and the first Pokemon Snap only had 63. So yeah, I think there would have been plenty of potential for it.

Q: “Do you enjoy taking photos in real life of anything and everything?”
A: I’m not really a big camera or photo guy. If I see something interesting or funny, I’ll usually take a picture of it with my phone or something, but that’s really about it.

Q: “Who is your favorite sage in Ocarina of Time?”
A: Honestly, I like all the sages with exception to Rauru and Nabooru. Rauru just seems so boring and unlikable and Nabooru was basically just, “We need someone to be a sage for the desert area, so let’s just make it this character we just met.” If I had to pick one I really liked though, I guess I would have to go with Darunia. I just like his attitude when you meet him in the Fire Temple, where it’s like you both are working together to stop Volvagia and save the gorons.

Q: “Have you ever watched an LP of yours and thought, ‘Do I really sound like that?’”
A: All the time. In fact, I think that’s a common feeling anybody has to watching their own work. I think it’s because you spend your entire life with your voice, so when you hear it back, you are completely underwhelmed because there is no mystery to it. It’s just like… ”well, this is just me,” opposed to watching a video by someone else, hearing their voice for the first time and just having that initial reaction of taking it all in.

Q: “How is everything in Indiana?”
A: Uh, it’s fine, I guess? The weather is starting to get cooler, which is good because I hate hot and dry summers. We’re losing our terrible, terrible governor that has ruined our state for too many years, which is always a good thing. In general, I don’t mind living in Indiana, but there are times where I yearn to live somewhere different.

Q: “Would you want to see more of the United Kingdom?”
A: This question is in reference to me talking about Brighton in one of my Super Mario Galaxy videos. Basically, I went to the UK during my senior year of high school for a class trip. We spent about one week in England (and a miserable day in France (it was only miserable because it was a very gloomy day and we literally only got to see like…2 hours of Paris)). We saw a lot of stuff and went to a lot of places during that week (most of which I can’t really remember), but some of the highlights were Brighton, Stonehenge, Shakespeare’s birthplace at Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford, and various places across London. It was a really cool trip, I got to go with a lot of my friends, and overall was just a really good time. Would I ever want to go back and see more of the UK? I would definitely not be against it, but I wouldn’t be disappointed if I never got the chance to go back either.

Well guys, thanks for joining me for another Question Corner! I will see you guys next time when I get enough questions!

Welcome to the fourth issue of SlimKirby Central! This is a series where I get into what’s currently going on with my Youtube channel, my Twitch channel and everything else I do in between; including some updates of what’s going on for me outside of the Internet world!

(Every bullet point will be time stamped, so you know what part of the video discussion starts on that topic)

Episode 4: April 2016

I. Youtube – 0:27
Link
a). Sonic CD will finish up next week on Tuesday, and I will upload an extra Brawl video on Thursday since Sonic CD will be over. Aside from that, schedule will continue as normal.
b). Kirby’s Return to Dreamland will be the replacement project for Sonic CD and will start on April 26th.
c). Super Mario Galaxy and Mega Man 7 will be upcoming projects as well, following Sacred Stones & Return to Dream Land, but the order of this will depend a lot on how I’m feeling.
d). Super Smash Bros. Brawl will continue for awhile, so no replacement weekend projects announced yet.
e). Currently figuring out other projects for the future. No cause for alarm as I’ll probably have more ideas by next update.

II. Twitch – 4:46
Link
a). New and modified rules on my Twitch page! Check them out before participating in chat, whether you are new or haven’t been around for awhile.
b). Digimon World 3 starting tonight (April 16th) as my next grinding stream game.
c). RetroAchievements going pretty well. Secure in Top 25 and trying to break and stay into Top 20, but will not be surprised if I drop some ranks here and there.
d). Thinking about doing some blind streams and maybe some speed run streams in the future. Expect blind streams to happen during my Wednesday night timeslot and speed run streams to be determined.

III. Shoutout, Thank Yous & Other Announcements – 10:04
a) Star Warrior Shout-out of the Month: WolfofStorms
b) Donation Goal of $550 for New Nintendo 3DS Capture Card has been met! Thank you to everyone who donated and supported me during this time!
c) To celebrate and show my appreciation for this donation goal being met, I will be planning a 24-hour stream event. Still thinking of the date and theme for the stream, so let me know if you have any ideas.

IV. Real Talk – 18:14
Talking about things going on in my life and things upcoming, namely Momocon! More information on that will be talked about on next month’s update. Until then though, just reminding everyone to stay strong and stay on top of things. You can do anything!

Question Corner #5 – 3/18/2016

Question Corner #5 – 3/18/2016

I feel I must apologize for the lateness of this entry. Not because I didn’t do it, because this has been ready for weeks now, but for some reason, it just kinda slipped my mind that I hadn’t put this up yet. It’s like going out of your way to make a really good pasta for dinner, but then just forgetting that you made it and you accidentally put a pizza in the oven instead. Entry #6, which might be ready soon, should be up sooner than this one because of this random delay.

Before we get started, as usual….if you would like to submit a questions of your own, go to the Contact page and send me a question for the Question Corner. Questions only focusing on “What LP will I do?” or “When will you LP this game?” will not be answered, so do not make a habit of asking those questions. And of course, please leave out questions that I’ve answered before and anything personal that doesn’t really belong on this website. Thank you!

Q: “What was your childhood dream job?”
A: Honestly, just making a job out of video games in some fashion would have been satisfying for my younger self. Whether it was making them, playtesting them, or even what I’m doing know with making videos on Youtube; anything that would put me in the field would have been just dandy.

Q: “What is your least favorite Let’s Play that you have done?”
A: Aside from the really bad camcorder projects of the old days, probably my blind run of Kirby’s Dream Land 3. Mario Party 3 is also pretty bad, but that KDL3 playthrough was just…ugh! I just get a bad feeling from even thinking about that one. Just the fact that it was a blind run, with post commentary just made it seem like it was very unprofessionally done. I’m glad I went back to redo that project at a later date and time, because the redone project was a lot better. Still wasn’t super crazy about the game, but I would have much rather had that new playthrough than the old one.

Q: “What are your 10 favorite characters from the Simpsons?”
A: Homer Simpson, Ralph Wiggum, Troy McClure, Sideshow Bob, Lenny Leonard, Carl Carlson, Professor Frink, Fat Tony, Dr. Hibbert, Rainer Wolfcastle. I think that’s 10! Don’t feel like going into too much detail though, so I’ll just say this; The Simpsons is a great show with many great characters.

Q: ”What would you do if you won the lottery?”
A: First I would pay off ALL of my student loans so I would never have to worry about those ever again. Then, honestly, I would just save a lot of the money just in case I would ever need it for a rainy day. You never know when it could come in handy.

Q: “What did you think of Futurama being cancelled again?”
A: Honestly, I don’t have much of a problem with it this time. This time they were able to end it with a proper finale, they got two pretty good quality seasons out of it being on Comedy Central, and I feel like it has met its goal this time. I’m personally someone who doesn’t mind the newer seasons of The Simpsons, but I do agree that the quality is much lower than what it used to be, and I think if Futurama tried to squeeze a few more seasons out, it would have started going down the same path.

Q: “What is your opinion on Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts?”
A: I’ve personally never played it, so I can’t give you an actual opinion of the game, but based on what I have seen of it, it’s disappointing because it doesn’t really deliver on what made Banjo such a great series (at that point). Whether the actual game itself is good or not, it’s not what many faithful BK followers bought an Xbox for, and it wasn’t really what Microsoft was paying for when they initially bought Rare. Think of it this way…you bought a steak, but instead were given a salad. Maybe the salad is really good, but it’s not what you paid for. That’s what many people seem to have an issue with in regards to Nuts & Bolts. Given, a part of that might be on the consumers and not Rare, because it was pretty clear that Nuts and Bolts was not going to be that new Banjo game everyone wanted, but I feel like the development was not necessarily denying that false identity either. Or rather, they didn’t do enough.

Q: “How far are you from getting a 3DS Capture Card and where can I donate to the cause?”
A: I’m still a few hundred away, but I’ve collected a lot of really great donations from the Star Warrior community so far! If you would like to donate, here is a link to my donation page!

Q: “Have you considered getting into the Mario Party development team?”
A: If it were that easy, then yes, I would totally get on board and make changes and get that series back on the right track. I really don’t see how NDCube continues to screw up on these games because the Mario Party fanbase has been quite vocal about what they want and what they don’t want. Mairo Party 10 was a huge oversight on their part and they could have made an excellent game if they actually did their research.

Q: “On a scale of 1-10, how cute is Kirby?”
A: Kirby gets a freaking 10, no questions asked!

Q: “For your best of/worst of Mario Party series, did you get the ideas for the skits from the games themselves?”
A: Pretty much, at least for Mario Party 5 and onward. I didn’t really have any themes in mind for MP1-MP4. I was just winging it for Mario Party 1, and my skits for Mario Party 2 were based on the viewer response from the skits in the first set of videos. Mario Party 3 was just an experiment I wanted to try on having a guest on board. Mario Party 4 was kind of relevant since there was the mini-mushroom and everything, but really I just didn’t want to spend much time on the skits that time. Everything else tried to feature something from the games I was covering, like the dreams of MP5, the night/day of MP6, the vacation of MP7, the candy of MP8 and driving around in a car for MP9.

Q: “What is your favorite food?”
A: I am a sucker for Italian food, whether it’s pizza or pasta (which explains the pasta scenario I made at the beginning of this post). I am also a big fan of seafood too. There’s an amazing seafood restaurant in my area that we go to for my birthday every year and I look forward to that day every year because of that. Those are definitely my favorites though.

Q: “What are your thoughts on the passing of David Bowie?”
A: Truly heartbreaking! David Bowie is one of my all-time favorite musicians and musical artists and his death hit me pretty hard. I used to listen to his music for hours during my teenage years and it got me through some pretty tough times.

Q: “Do you plan to use face-cam on any of your videos?”
A: If it’s a project/game that would be enhanced by the usage of a face cam, like Slender, Five Nights At Freddys, or many of the other reactionary horror games out there, I’ll consider the idea, but it’s more than likely going to be a straight “No!” I don’t really think facecam adds anything to a Let’s Play and those who “think” it does, only think that way because multi-channel networks tell them that it does, or just think “Well, pewdiepie does it,” so it’s automatically a successful idea that needs to be incorporated (which is also something MCNs will tell you). I mean, I suppose it could add a bit of a personal touch to some videos, but they are mostly used successfully when it’s a game like Amnesia (the horror game, not the dating sim) or Outlast, where Pewdiepie is screaming his head off and the viewers have a visual aid to laugh alongside with. That’s the only time it really works, in my opinion.

Q: “Have you considered stopping Youtube altogether?
A: In terms of just randomly thinking “You know what, I don’t want to do this anymore,” no, I have never really considered it. However, in terms of thinking “Well, there might come a day where I will need to put this aside for more important things,” yeah, I wonder about that all the time. Hell, there are recent days where I have to start thinking about that stuff. As far as what I’m doing about it, I’m just taking it one day at a time and if I need to stop, I will. However, it’s going to be really hard to get me to stop completely. I’m sure I’ll find a way back to this somehow.

Q: “What are your thoughts on the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games?”
A: I think the games are really good in their own right. I would rather play the handheld adventure games because that is where the series shines most, but the MD games are very interesting spinoff titles. I’ve never been able to completely get through a Mystery Dungeon game, but I think it’s because I always approach the games in the worst way possible. Like for RetroAchievements where I expect that I need to do every single sidequest and optional mission in order to get everything. I should honestly just play through the games.

Q: “What kind of movies do you like to watch?”
A: I’m not a very big movie guy, but only in terms of going out to see them. These days I often have a lot more fun watching movies with friends on Netflix, or having a group movie night with my Skype friends. I can watch or pretty much get into anything as long as it’s not super long or boring to the point where I get distracted by the piece of dust in the corner of the room. Some of my favorite movies though are classic movies like Forrest Gump and The Right Stuff, but I’ve gotten into a number of movies very easily. I am also a fan of classic Adam Sandler movies like Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison.

Q: What kind of books do you like to read?”
A: Someone was really, really driven on getting the very basic and broad questions out of the way because I think he asked the previous question too. Anyway, I’m not really that much of a reader. I think it’s because I get distracted really easily and sometimes if I’m not feeling it, I start slurring words together in my head to get through the page/chapter faster. Recently I read through the Hunger Games trilogy and thoroughly enjoyed it, although I only got interested after watching the first movie. I think my favorite book though is “The Three Kingdoms” by Luo Guanzong, which is a novelization of the “Three Kingdoms” saga, which is the same saga the Dynasty Warriors games are based off of as well, so I had a lot of fun reading through that because I had some prior knowledge through the games. That’s all I can really say about books though.

Q: “What was your college experience like?”
A: My college experience was…decent. I wouldn’t say it was a great experience because I kind of felt like the things I did learn were great tools for the real world and I learned a lot about myself as well. However, the things I did go to college for, and by extension, the things I paid thousands and thousands of dollars for, really weren’t that worth it for me. I don’t feel like my professors (most of them anyway) were really that great and a lot of things I did learn were things I had to self-teach myself and it’s debatable if I even left the institution with all the knowledge I did need (at least in relation to what I was studying). Some of the best things I learned were “how to keep a solid budget,” “how to properly schedule your tasks,” “how to keep your living space in order,” “how to deal with (bad) roommates,” and let’s face it, I did all of that stuff while also balancing a Youtube channel that was starting to become moderately successful during those times. Those are all good things, but not things I went to college for. So at the end of the day, college ended up feeling like a fifty-thousand dollar expense that I will never get back and I’ll be paying that expense for the next 10 or 20 years. Not to mention that I don’t really feel that prepared for the real world either. Maybe I just had a bad major choice for my particular institution (I went to Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana), so I’m not going to say college is not good, because there is definitely some value to it. It’s just not worth the thousands and thousands of dollars you have to pay for it, especially considering that college isn’t for everyone.

Q: “Have there been games that you didn’t like as much, but after Let’s Playing them, you liked more? And the reverse?”
A: I’m glad I got this question during the Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze playthrough because that game is slowly becoming the perfect model for your question. I was not really into the game that much during my first playthrough, but now, after playing through about 60% of the game for the LP project, I’m finding that I’m enjoying it a whole lot more and it’s slowly becoming one of my favorite Wii U games as a result. Mario Party 7 was another game that I wasn’t too crazy about either, but I liked it a lot more after the LP as well. As for games I found I didn’t like as much after finishing….it’s hard to say. I don’t feel like there have been any games I’ve just not liked anymore after LPing them. Super Mario Sunshine was kind of demoralizing, but that was moreso because I went through the game 100% three times in a span of like 2 or 3 months, not really because of the game or project itself. Mario Party 10 was also a disappointment, but I was already kind of not digging that game anyway.

Q: “Should Masahiro Sakurai be replaced as the main developer of Smash Bros?”
A: No, definitely not. I don’t like some of his decisions, and I think he needs to stop giving ‘so much’ special treatment to his own series, but like it or not, he is a good developer. I just think he needs a little direction in some cases. But as far as being the main developer, I don’t think that should be taken away from him and he doesn’t deserve to be “Kojima’d” for lack of a better term.

Well, that’s it for another Question Corner! Thanks to everyone for the questions and I will see you guys next time!

Question Corner #3 – 11/17/2015

Question Corner #3 – 11/17/2015

I promised that it wouldn’t be more than a year until the next Question Corner. How does one week sound? Better, right?

To be fair though, as I mentioned in the last installment, I had a lot of questions to work with.from the very long hiatus of April 2014 until now, and this installment is pretty much going to finish off what I had remaining before I posted Issue #2. As far as the next issue is concerned…that wait is now up to you guys! I am pretty much out of questions now (aside from a few random ones I received since my return), so before Issue #4 is posted, I’ll need some more! Generally I’m going to go to about twenty questions before I post an issue, but if they are beefy questions with beefy answers, I’ll settle for around 15. If you want to submit a question, go to my Contact page and leave one. DO NOT POST A COMMENT! I WILL ONLY ANSWER QUESTIONS VIA THE CONTACT FORM!

And lastly, just a few reminders, don’t just leave questions about “What LPs are you going to do?” or “When will you do a Let’s Play of this game?” Those questions are honestly very repetitive and will generally have the same answer of, “Whenever I feel ready to LP the game,” or “whenever I get the game and feel ready to LP it.”

Q: “Did you ever own the NES?”
A: Unfortunately no, my only experience with the NES was through games that were ported to other systems, emulators and Virtual Console. I would have loved to own an NES, but therein lies the problem of….”If I had one, would it actually work anymore?”

Q: “Will you ever do an lp of super mario 3d land/world?”
A: For the former, if I can ever get my hands on the elusive 3DS capture card! For the latter, yeah, but after I do some of the other 3D Mario games first.

Q: “How come you only upload only one video per day?”
A: I think one upload per day is plenty when you really think about it. Most of my videos are in the 20-30 minute range, which is usually how long a typical TV show lasts. Try to think of my videos as that TV show you watch every day at a certain time. Although my upload times throughout the day are kind of inconsistent now. Regardless, I’ve never really been a fan of multiple videos per day anyway. In a way, it’s almost too much to ask of the viewer to watch more than one part, and one of my biggest peeves on Youtube is having so many videos on my subscription list, so why do the same to others?

Q: “Why do you upload widescreen games such as NSMBWii, NSMBU, and Kriby’s Epic Yarn in letterbox format instead of just widescreen?”
A: Back then, my capture device was not capable of widescreen. I recently updated to an Elgato HD Capture, which is capable of such feats, but that was the reason my videos were not in that format back in the day.

Q: “What is your opinion on the Crash Bandicoot series?”
A: For being games I have never owned, the series is fantastic! I would love to own the games some day because I had a lot of fun playing them at my friend’s houses.

Q: “Are you a brony?”
A: No, I am not a brony. I enjoy watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, but aside from watching new episodes when they come out, that’s as far as I go with the series. I have no intention of any of that other stuff that goes along with that show’s following.

Q: “Do you ever plan on playing Street Fighter 2 on SNES?”
A: Street Fighter 2 is actually a game I had some experience with when I was younger. My uncle had the game and I enjoyed playing it with him. Recently, when tackling the game for RetroAchievements though, my god did I struggle with it. I can’t really say I could do a playthrough of it unless I really get good at it and practice.

Q: “Will you continue the Metroid series, and how will you continue it on your channel?”
A: Yes, I plan on continuing Metroid because I do enjoy the series. I’ll tackle Fusion at some point, and I will go back to Metroid 1 for an NES marathon of some kind, and at some point I’ll even get to *gulp* Other M. I don’t have a lot of experience with the Prime games though and might need to get some practice with them before I step foot in that territory.

Q: “What are your thoughts on getting Geno (♥♪!?) into the Smash Bros. series?
A: As much as I love Super Mario RPG and as much as I love Geno as a character, I do not want to see him in Smash Bros., because I don’t think he has earned a place in that series yet. He is a one-game wonder that hasn’t really had a lot of influence on the world of Nintendo or the gaming world in general, which is what I think is absolutely necessary to be included in Smash Bros. in the first place. Some may argue, “Well, what about Dark Pit?” To that I say, “I AGREE! GET DARK PIT OUT OF THERE!” But yeah, no Geno for me yet! At least in my opinion.

Q: “What is your favourite piece of Kirby music?”
A: As a whole, I am completely in love with the Kirby’s Epic Yarn soundtrack. It’s one of the most beautiful pieces of music I’ve ever heard in a video game and is a soundtrack you should listen to when you get the chance. I also really like King Dedede’s theme and MetaKnight’s Revenge music from Kirby Superstar, alongside many of the Smash Bros. remixes.

Q: “Do you watch Epic Rap Battles? And if you do what is your favorite one?”
A: I don’t keep up with it, but I do watch some episodes if I am interested. My favorite one is Walter White vs. Rick Grimes because I am a fan of both Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead.

Q: “What’s the situation with monetizing Let’s Play videos on Youtube, particularly when it comes to legal issues of copyright?”
A: I knew I would get this question at some point, but anyway….the thing about Let’s Plays is that they fall under a very gray area. They aren’t illegal, but you’re still kind of in a position where you don’t own the content, so any gaming company can legally claim the videos as their own and leave you in the dust. That’s where a little thing known as “Fair Use” comes into play. Because you have your own commentary over the video, and because you are pretty much adopting your own style of playing the game, they can’t 100% claim the video as their own, because you did record, edit and change the video into your own product. In a way, you can almost think of Let’s Playing as a parody of a video game. Now, I’m obviously not a legal person, all of my knowledge just stems from what I’ve been told and what I’ve picked up over the past few years of doing this. Also, video game companies seem to have….different feelings towards this….so they aren’t all going to act or do the same things. From my experience, this is what I do; if I get a content claim…and usually the claims are content IDs and NOT COPYRIGHT STRIKES, I repeal the claim, explain that my video falls under the notion of “Fair Use” and how it does, and if the company rejects my repeal, I leave the video alone and let them get the ad revenue instead. Sometimes the company will accept my repeal and they leave it alone, letting me get the ad revenue, and if that’s the case, good, I won the battle. However, I don’t feel like I’m in a position to battle it further in court if they reject it. They do own the content after all and I’m just someone uploading videos to share my love of video games with my fans; my ultimate goal is not to make money here.

I’ve never gotten a copyright strike through this means (I have through other means, but not for what is relevant for this particular discussion), because I feel like video game companies are aware that this isn’t illegal. They are just trying to get their name attached to the video to let people know that they created the game. If the video is being monetized by the Youtuber, usually they step aside and let the Youtuber have it because at the end of the day, they are still getting exposure from it, and if they support the Youtuber, they know they can get more exposure from them through other games as well. This is not true with all video game developers though, especially with Nintendo, who I feel like doesn’t understand this yet. However, with that being said, I have over 2500 videos on my channel that are Nintendo-related content, and while I have gotten quite a few content-ID claims, I have never gotten a strike from them, so as far as legal matters are concerned, you should be fine. Being partnered with a company like Maker Studios, Curse, Machinima, etc. does help with that, because they are a brand that interacts with gaming companies, but being a part of Maker myself, know that you will still get content-ID claims regardless. Probably just not as frequent as other partners or non-partners. So my advice is; do not let any of that legal mumbo-jumbo scare you, and if it does come up, try to repeal the claim once by saying it’s Fair Use and/or parody, but if it doesn’t go through, leave that particular video alone and let them have their victory because it is such a gray area and there are still lots of things people don’t understand. But this is not something you should feel like you will be going to court for though.

Q: “Why don’t your projects have ‘End Dates’ on the website?”
A: I suppose that is something I could add in the future, but the reason why I haven’t (or didn’t when I started) is because for some projects, it’s hard to determine when they are going to end. For example, when I did Advance Wars 2, Fortune Street, and The Walking Dead Season 1, I knew I wasn’t going to do the entire thing at once. I had two sessions of Fortune Street, I had the War Room for Advance Wars, and I knew future seasons would be coming out for The Walking Dead, so at that point, you can’t really know WHEN that project would be ending. So that’s why I didn’t include the “End Date” yet. Like I said, I may add that in the future.

Q: “Y U SO EPIC?????”
A: Again, it’s the sunglasses

Q: “Will Star Fox 64 be in your future?”
A: For the channel I’m guessing? If so, yes, because I love Star Fox 64! I haven’t decided when yet. I think it’s because a part of me wants to do Star Fox for the SNES first, but I don’t have that game, plus I hear it’s very hard so……I dunno…I’ll figure it out!

Q: “Will more Advance Wars be in your future?”
A: Yes it will be, but I want to spend a little more time on Fire Emblem because as a strategy-game lover, especially of Intelligent Systems renditions, I honestly enjoy Fire Emblem way more than Advance Wars. It’s less stressful and less AI manipulation. However, I will be doing Advance Wars: Dual Strike at some point soon. But not before I do a few more Fire Emblem games first.

Q: “Will more Mega Man games be in your future (and not just of the classic series)?
A: I really enjoyed my playthroughs of the NES Mega Man games and I would like to do more of them; including the other variations of Mega Man like X, EXE, and Starforce. Only problem is….I don’t exactly have any of those games. But if I manage to obtain them somehow, I don’t see why not, unless I end up completely despising the games.

Q: “What capture device do you use?”
A: Right now I use an Elgato Game Capture HD. I was using a Dazzle Video Converter, but not anymore.

Q: “What is your favorite LP that you’ve done?”
A: My most enjoyable Let’s Play for me was The Simpsons: Hit and Run. That was the Let’s Play I did where I really felt like my channel was starting to take off and I started gaining subscribers like mad. It was really cool kind of living in that moment during that Let’s Play. Special mention to Donkey Kong 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask too for also being very entertaining projects at the time of recording them!

Q: “Any future plans for Mario Party DS and Island Tour?”
A: As soon as my 3DS capture card plans are permanent, I will gladly get to those games.

Q: “Who is your main character for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U?”
A: My main at this point is probably Ike. Overall he is just the character that is the easiest for me to use and the character I can feel like I can win with the most. I’ve been trying to pick up and get better with Shulk and Ganondorf as well.

Q: “How in the world did you meet FiyahKitteh?”
A: I met her through ShadowMarioXLI’s old chatroom back at the Blargg Pit back in 2011. After the website and CrystalStarStudio kind of fell apart in 2012, she reached out to me through Youtube and sent me a few messages. We exchanged skype information, got very close, and then we started dating for a few years. Although we are no longer dating, I still consider her one of my best and closest friends, and from her I’ve learned a lot about the world and myself. She is also one terrific Smite player!

Question Corner #2 – 11/10/2015

Question Corner #2 - 11/10/2015

WOW! A SECOND QUESTION CORNER? FINALLY? AFTER ALMOST TWO YEARS?

First off, my apologies for it taking so long to get to this, but if it isn’t obvious, I am a very busy man with a lot of things going on, and a lot of things had to take priority over this. HOWEVER, just because I haven’t done this in a long time, doesn’t mean that any of your questions were forfeit! I still have all the e-mails and mail from you guys and have been keeping them for an occasion such as this! So let’s get straight to the questions, shall we?

Oh, and second of all, as usual, if your question isn’t on here, please consider the following; someone asked it or it’s been addressed on an earlier part or different part of the website, it was an extremely personal or inappropriate question that doesn’t belong on here, it’s no longer relevant (some questions were related to 2014 and early 2015 after all), it will be answered in Question Corner #3 or a future Question Corner, and I’m not just going to answer a whole bunch of “Will you LP this game?” questions on here. If I have something special or unique to say about the game, I may answer it, but just try to avoid those questions.

And one final thing, feel free to ask more questions via the Question Corner section of my Contact page. I promise it won’t take this long to get to them anymore.

Q: “Will you subscribe to/follow me on Youtube/Twitter/etc.?”
A: This is a very good question….the type of question that probably belongs on one of my other FAQs, so I’ll consider putting this there too. Simple answer with no explanation; no! However, I understand the difficulty of trying to get yourself out there on social media and Youtube, so I’ll at least go into a little more detail with my answer. The reason I say no is because simply asking for followers and subscribers kind of defeats the purpose of what those functions are for. When you see someone you are interested in and someone who you want to keep following and someone you will be notified of whenever they post something new, you follow them or subscribe to them; and to me, that’s what those options are there for and nothing else. Yeah, there will probably always be someone who has more subscribers and followers than you, but in an extremely blunt and honest way…they kind of earned that by posting interesting content that a bunch of other people want to see more of. Not to say that your content isn’t as good or as interesting, but they’ve obviously done something that has made them more viral than you, and while I think it’s normal to be a bit envious and almost a little jealous of them, don’t think of it as a loss, think of it as an opportunity to come back later and try posting some other content and trying to build up your own gang of subscribers. Almost 98% of the time, subscription and follower growth will be positive and not negative (if it’s negative, you are doing something terribly wrong). So just keep at it and try to earn your followers the natural way. So while I’m not following you now, who is to say I won’t be following you in the future? Wouldn’t you rather be in a position to say, “Wow, this person is following my stuff because they are interested in it,” as opposed to “Wow, this person is following my stuff because I asked them to!” Yeah….no offense, but the former is probably what you should be going for, not the latter.

Q: “What are your chances of doing Super Princess Peach?”
A: You may want to re-read your question and remind yourself of WHO YOU ARE ASKING! Haha, just kidding! Hell, if anything, Super Princess Peach actually kind of intrigues me as a video game. I got to watch a playthrough of it on the SpeedGamers Mario marathon last year, and honestly, it looked really fun! It reminded me of a combination of Yoshi’s Island meets The Legendary Starfy! However, as it stands right now, I can’t exactly LP DS games on a regular basis, not to mention that I don’t even have the game either. But I would consider it if I had it.

Q: “Do you plan on doing a Kirby’s Adventure/Nightmare in Dream Land Let’s Play, and if so what version?”
A: Once again, I am modifying the question a little to make it a little less “Will you Let’s Play this game?” and more of a question that is probably a bit more appropriate. At some point yes. As for version, probably Kirby’s Adventure and I would do it alongside a marathon of other classic NES games. I could potentially take a look at Nightmare in Dream Land too and any differences it may have (heck, isn’t there a Meta Knight mode or something?), but until then, it’ll come when it comes.

Q: “Will you Let’s Play (Insert Game Here)?
A: Ok, I should really just use this as a template for any questions like this in the future that don’t get answered, because my answer is going to pretty much be the same (unless I have something unique to say about the game in question). If I don’t have the game, I can’t LP it. If I do get the game and if it’s something I feel like playing for you guys, I will! However, I’m not going to do a game just for the sole purpose of doing it. I have to feel it inside my heart! So basically, if you ask a question like this in the future, and you don’t get a response, it’s because I don’t have it, nor have I played it yet either (or in some cases, I already have Let’s Played it, in the long process of me answering these overdue questions, lol).

Q: “Have you played Fire Emblem: Awakening?”
A: Yes I have! As a Fire Emblem game, it’s pretty solid! Not my favorite Fire Emblem game, but it is a great collaboration of old and new mechanics into a solid 3DS title!

Q: “Do you plan on posting any columns like “Are We Sexist Enough Yet?” in the future? It was a good read and I enjoyed it!”
A: First off, thank you! Second, I would like to, and again, this would have been more appropriate back in the day when I was actually trying to update my site more regularly. Major apologies for that by the way. Anyway, yeah, I would like to write more articles like that, but as it stands right now, it’s going to need to be when A) I’m in the mood to, and B) if I can get back on track with making articles on a regular basis.

Q: “What is your status on M-rated games for the channel?”
A: As it stands right now, I have done a few M-rated games on my channel, namely Darksiders and The Walking Dead. I’ve really enjoyed doing those games, although they are probably not my most-viewed projects on my channel….not even close. As a rule of thumb, on my channel, I do what games I want to do and what I’m in the mood for. If it comes down to M-rated games….if I want to do a particular one, I will. If not, I won’t. And as it stands, there are probably way more E-rated games I feel like doing than M-rated games, so I’ll probably be playing those odds. Not to say that the channel will be completely void of M-rated content either.

Q: “If you had time to pick at least one game to play during your free time, which one will that be?”
A: It would probably have to be Super Mario World, my favorite game of all-time! I can’t get enough of that game and I love challenging myself to play through it and beat it in a variety of different ways, namely in a speed setting! =P It’s always good fun!

Q: “What are the roots of your hatred for Peach?”
A: It all stems from Mario Party. No matter what, whenever I get screwed in a Mario Party game, for the longest time, whenever Peach was in the game, SHE WAS ALWAYS THE REASON! And over the last 16 or so years, that hatred has grown into what it is now. Which is funny, because in most other games, I don’t really mind Peach at all.

Q: “Is there a video game you like to play but refuse to let’s play for your channel?”
A: Dynasty Warriors 2-6. As much as I love these games, I’m just not sure how to go about them for a Let’s Play. I’d like to show off all the characters and their story modes and how to obtain their best weapons and everything, but the amount of repetition required for that…….I just don’t know where to begin.

Q: “What sports do you enjoy?”
A: I love Golf. Golf to me is just so much fun to watch and play. I also enjoy playing Basketball, Soccer and Tennis, but not to the same extent as Golf.

Q: “What were some of your favorite cartoons growing up as a kid?
A: The cartoons I watched were mostly Nicktoons. I watched Rugrats, Doug, Hey Arnold, Rocko’s Modern Life, and when it finally came out years later….Spongebob Squarepants!

Q: “Have you played Goldeneye 007 for the N64?”
A: Yes I have! It’s quite literally the only first-person shooter game I enjoy! I’m still not great enough to beat Secret Agent though.

Q: “Any plans on playing Kirby’s Return to Dreamland for the channel?”
A: This will probably be the next Kirby game I play for my channel. It will either be this or Kirby’s Adventure, but most likely this!

Q: “What ever happened to MegaFreak400?”
A: I realized how much I truly loved him and how I didn’t want anyone else to have him, so I captured him and locked him in my kitchen cabinet. In reality, he just didn’t have the time to do Let’s Plays anymore and kind of just phased them out of his life. I still talk to him on occasion and still consider him a really great friend. I miss his videos though. =(

Q: “What would you say is a good amount of subscribers for one year of gaming?”
A: At this point it’s hard to say. Getting noticed on Youtube is a lot harder than it used to be, especially with how oversaturated Gaming and Let’s Playing is. I can’t really give you a number. Just be happy with the fans you have and remember that they are there for YOU! Kind of a corny answer, but….whatever! =P

Q: “What new characters do you want to see for Super Smash Bros?”
A: King K. Rool, the return of Ice Climbers, Star Wolf, and Solid Snake, Krystal from Star Fox (as long as she is not a copy/paste clone of other Star Fox characters), a Fire Emblem character that doesn’t have a sword, the Splatoon Inklings, Shovel Knight, Banjo Kazooie, and Simon Belmont. Just to name a few.

Q: “What are your thoughts about the Ace Attorney series?”
A: I have not played any of them, but they look like fun games to play. I’d like to take a stab at them someday!

Q: “Do you think Nintendo has been slacking off when it comes to their lack of presence at conventions and other media events?”
A: I don’t know if I could really say they are slacking off persay, but I do agree that cutting their own attendance at these events doesn’t help. It’s a great way to see gamer response and interact with their loyal consumers. They should be doing a lot of that, honestly.

Q: “What was your motivation to get into programming?”
A: I’m a weird person to ask about that because I was never really a great programmer. But for me, it just interested me in how games and software get developed and I wanted to learn more about it, even if it wasn’t my strong suit. That kind of motivation can take you a long way.

Q: “In episode 2 of Mario Party Advance, you referenced My Little Pony. Are you awesome or something?”
A: Uhhhh, yeah!”

Q: “What kind of music are you into and what are you’re favorite bands/artists?”
A: I am a huge fan of 80’s Pop and Rock music. Some of my favorite bands and artists consist of Queen, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Journey, Def Leppard, Cheap Trick, REO Speedwagons and Foreigner.

Well, that’s it for Round 2 of the Question Corner! I’ll have Question Corner #3 at the end of the week which will pretty much round out all of the questions I missed out on from the first one til now. Please send me some more questions though, because after Edition #3, I won’t have any more remaining and will need to build up my stock again.

Showcases

Showcases

Sometimes there are projects that I want to check out or play for you guys, without necessarily being pressured into making an actual “Let’s Play” or series for it. Whether it’s a ROM hack or an addicting game I’ve discovered, this is the section for games of that nature.

Convention & Unboxing Videos:

In my attempts to become more comfortable with being on camera, I’ve decided to include unboxing videos and convention-related content on my channel. This all started when I got contacted by 1upBox to potentially do some unboxing videos for them, so I registered for the service and….well, that’s pretty much the story for this playlist! =P

Dungeon of Elements

Frogdice creators Pang and Michael Hartman contacted me via Twitter and e-mail to say thank you for providing entertainment for their daughter, who was a fan of my videos. After sending a few e-mails back and forth, I heard that they were part of their own gaming company called Frogdice, and they were working really hard on a game of their own called Dungeon of Elements, a dungeon-crawling puzzle game with Dr. Mario elements. To say thanks for the nice comments, I decided to give their game a little bump, so I played through a few levels of the game to show it off. I like to think my bump helped get the word out, or at the very least, boost up their confidence as they’ve gone on to create some other games as well (like Reign Maker) which are now available via Steam.

Little Alchemy

There is a small game I discovered on Facebook, thanks to my mom, called Little Alchemy, which I thought was kind of fun to experiment with and discover elements and different creations you could make just with simple mouse clicks. It was only a single video one-off, but I was glad I did it.

Pokémon Blue Kaizo

Allow me to show you a world where Kanto doesn’t mow their lawns, Pokémon have weird movesets, and the game just in general really hates you. With that, we have Pokémon Blue Kaizo, a hack of the original Blue Version that takes things to very frustrating lengths. I was enjoying this project for awhile, and almost considered finishing it, but due to some issues with version updates, and me just not enjoying the hack anymore at a certain point, I decided to let it go, unfortunately.

Super Mario Bros. Crossover

To celebrate 10,000 Subscribers and for almost being on Youtube for an entire three years, I decided to try out a game that had been becoming popular with my college friends called Super Mario Bros. Crossover. It’s a game where you play through the original Super Mario Bros., but not as just Mario. The trick is you can switch between several different NES heroes like Mega Man, Link, Samus Aran, Simon Belmont and even the guy from Contra. It was a fun little flash game to play to celebrate such a terrific milestone!

Terraria

I’ve never been a fan of Minecraft, but Terraria on the other hand….that was something I could enjoy playing. I just feel like the game is capable of doing what Minecraft is capable of, to a much smaller, but less frustrating and complex, degree. I wanted to do a Let’s Play of Terraria, but when I figured out that it wouldn’t work, I decided to go for a Showcase instead, where I could start building a world I could call my own and share it with you guys in the process! Like other showcases though, at some point it did get a bit tiring and less interesting, so I did slow it down a lot.
