After having some pretty successful and fun adventures on the Game Boy and Game Boy Color, Wario decided it’s time to take things to the Game Boy Advance for his 4th installment. News of a mysterious pyramid full of treasure has started to spread and naturally Wario feels that pillaging and treasure hunting is right up his alley, so another adventure awaits. We have a pretty interesting and unique adventure in front of us this though, so let’s see what it’s all about!

I had initially intended for this project to be the closer of 2018, but with some projects taking a lot longer than I had anticipated (coughFIREEMBLEMcough), I figured there was no harm in starting the new year with it. Besides, with my upcoming trip to AGDQ 2019 and the start of a new upload schedule, something quick and painless seemed like the perfect fit here. The Game Boy Advance was actually quite perfect for those types of games, now that I think about it…maybe it was the best gaming system of that generation!

Nearing the end of the N64’s life-span, Rareware was often asked when Donkey Kong Country was going to make its glorious reappearance. Although the series never made a true comeback until the Nintendo Wii, this was Rare’s answer for the Nintendo 64. King K. Rool is back and once to make another run at DK’s Banana Hoard, also capturing some of his friends as well. This does not please the big ape, as he ventures forth to rescue his friends and reclaim his stash!

This was the sixth “replay” project I did on my channel, as I had done some videos for the game at a prior date, but due to the bad (camcorder) quality of the project, I decided to redo the project with a modern spin. The videos for the old project are still available for viewing on my channel, but there is no longer a playlist associated with that version.

Donkey Kong 64 was the first “true” Let’s Play I did on my channel, but the 2010 version of me wasn’t completely satisfied with the results of that project, so I decided to go for a reboot of the game and do it more justice. I feel like my attempts were more than just satisfactory, as my replay of the game turned out to be one of my biggest and best projects yet, alongside The Simpsons: Hit and Run.

We all know the classic tale and love triangle of Mario, Pauline, and Donkey Kong from the Arcade, but the Game Boy version of the game was truly the first title that flushed out this masterpiece to even greater limits! After the classic construction site, Mario chases the big ape to other locations, such as the Big City, a vast jungle, a frozen iceberg, and even an airplane! Does Mario ever get a break?

This was a Game Boy game I really loved from my youth, and the ability to take it on the go as I solved various puzzles in order to rescue Mario’s girlfriend was a challenge that I always remembered well. It was a perfect game to show to you guys and I’m glad I got the chance to.
