Samus Aran is back in action and this time, she’s armed to take down some Metroids. SR388 is the Metroid homeworld and Samus has strict orders to take down every Metroid for fear they will once again be used for malicious intentions in the galaxy. She’ll need to brave the deepest and darkest caverns to accomplish this task and may come face to face with Metroid royalty.

This project pretty much came out of nowhere due to some computer issues I was having and needing some smaller projects to do in the meantime while I was getting the computer fixed up. Metroid II was a game I finished for the first time not long before this happened, so I decided to give this project a shot. It was on my list to do this year anyway, but it was nice to move it up for this occasion as I had fun doing this game for you guys.

Metroid is another series that had its glorious beginnings on the NES console. This was Samus Aran’s true first mission (as far as game releases are concerned) and now we are going to experience it in all of its old school, NES glory. Let’s take down that Mother Brain!

Much like Zelda, Metroid was another game that I just didn’t have the drive to finish for a really long time, after being spoiled to the updated controls of Super Metroid and pretty much any other Metroid game. However, there is definitely some charm to this game as well and I’d be a fool to ignore it.

The legacy of Samus Aran has always been a fan favorite, and her second adventure to the Planet Zebes is a cult classic among Metroid fans. Upon leaving the Ceres Space Station, after the events of Metroid II, Samus gets a distress call from the station, returning to find it completely lifeless. She finds that the space pirates (from Metroid I) are responsible, and she returns to Zebes to set things straight.

Metroid was one of the few Nintendo series I had left on my radar and I figured it was time to tread these new waters with a bang from a fully-charged Charge Beam. I went with my favorite game of the series, as it was the one I remember most and have the most fun playing, and I felt like it was a great one to start with, and end the year with!
