Sonic Adventure 2

Sonic Adventure 2

Game: Sonic Adventure 2
Start Date: April 9th, 2019
End Date: —
Videos: —

After the events of Sonic Adventure 1, Dr. Eggman is up to his classic, villainous plots again, but this time he has snuck into a military base and released a black hedgehog from captivity; Shadow. With Shadow on his side, Eggman has a super fast hedgehog of his own and now has a plan that will wreck the entire planet if Sonic doesn’t stop him. However…we now get a choice of which side we want to work on. Will we join Sonic to save the world? Or will we join the Eggman Empire and try to conquer it?

I wanted to get Sonic Adventure 2 started last year, but I just didn’t have enough time to get it going, so I waited until the beginning of 2019 instead. This game is perhaps one of my favorite games of all time, just because the sheer amount of time I’ve put into it and number of times I’ve gotten all 180 emblems. So now, it is my pleasure to bring to you guys as a Let’s Play.

Like Sonic Adventure 1, my ultimate plan for this game is to play through the game normally for Youtube, and then after I’ve finished it, I will do all the emblem grinding and acquiring on my Twitch channel, after which I will upload pieces of that footage to Youtube as well. This will be a long playthrough because of that, but I’m looking forward to it!

Sonic Adventure (DX)

Sonic Adventure (DX)

Game: Sonic Adventure (DX)
Start Date: November 14th, 2017
End Date: December 29th, 2017

Sonic is back! But this time, he’s making the transition to full 3D gameplay! Originally released on the Dreamcast, Sonic Adventure is perhaps one of the most popular Sonic games. In addition to 3D Sonic gameplay, the game also introduced a variety of different characters and gameplay styles, all under the sole goal to stop Dr. Eggman and a mysterious monster known as Chaos.

I’ve been wanting to get to the Sonic Adventure games for a really long time. I’m not entirely sure why, but I just feel drawn to them in some way. Maybe I just like the style of game it is, or maybe the completionist inside of me finds a thrill of collecting every emblem, but regardless of the reason, this was a long time coming and I’m happy for it to finally be upon us! Even though the main part of this playthrough is over, I am making a comeback to this game, very soon, to obtain and collect every emblem and extra this game has to offer.

Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

Game: Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Start Date: December 5th, 2015
Videos: 10

After releasing some of its flagship series on the Gamecube in 2002 and 2003; like Mario, Zelda and Metroid, it’s no surprise that a Mario Kart game was in the works as well. However, this game was coming in the form of DOUBLE TROUBLE! Two characters take one kart in the high speed action of Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

I promised Double Dash at the end of 2015, you will get Double Dash at the end of 2015! Double Dash is definitely a milestone as far as the Mario Kart series goes for me. Kind of that point where I felt like Nintendo had a good formula down and all future additions really just needed a few tweaks in control and (obviously) an update in the graphics engine. Although it’s not my favorite Mario Kart, a lot of fun was had with this game when it was relevant.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Game: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Start Date: December 23rd, 2014
Videos: 67

Paper Mario has returned, but this adventure will take us to new places and locales as we go on a treasure hunt in the land of Rogueport. Below the city lies a terrible curse and Mario will need to do everything in his power to prevent it, a task that will also require him to save the princess, yet again.

For Christmas of 2014, the one gift I knew my fans and subscribers wanted most was the sequel to my “Best of 2014” LP of the year, Paper Mario. Luckily enough for them, this game was already on waiting list and I had the itch to return to Rogueport once again for a good ole fashioned treasure hunt!

Luigi’s Mansion

Luigi's Mansion

Game: Luigi’s Mansion
Start Date: November 10th, 2014
Videos: 12

Luigi has won a contest that he didn’t even enter and his brother has gone missing at the building site of a giant spooky mansion. After investigating the house, Luigi finds that it has been haunted by ghosts and Mario’s fate continues to be unknown. With the help of Professor E. Gadd, a scholar of ghosts, Luigi will now go toe-to-toe with the spooks to find his brother.

After Super Mario Sunshine, I wanted to cover the Gamecube installment starring the other plumber brother, especially since Sunshine was scheduled to end around the time of October. However, due to some computer issues, I had to push this project forward until November, but I was still in the mood for some good old fashioned ghost hunting!

Super Smash Bros. Melee

Super Smash Bros. Melee

Game: Super Smash Bros. Melee
Start Date: September 13th, 2014

After the release of Super Smash Bros. on the Nintendo 64, HAL had no plans for a follow-up to the multiplayer slam-fest. However, after the game had received such popularity, the company returned once again to make an even bigger game on the Nintendo Gamecube. And thus, one of the most popular competitive fighting games was born, with more characters, more stages, more modes of play, and more multiplayer mayhem.

Smash Hype was still going strong in the summer after my N64 LP had already ended. Because of this, I made an executive decision to start the sequel a bit earlier than I had already planned. It also worked out quite well because this project released during the first week of Smash Bros. 3DS being out in Japan. I guess the only thing that really needs to be said now…”Bring on the Melee!”

Although this project is complete, there is a possibility for me returning to this game in the future to collect the rest of the trophies and completing some of the hardest challenges this game has to offer. For now though….not exactly in the mood! XD

Super Mario Sunshine

Super Mario Sunshine

Game: Super Mario Sunshine
Start Date: August 11th, 2014
Runtime: 9 hours
Videos: 23

Mario and Peach surely need a vacation after all of the kidnappings they’ve had to endure, but they are about to find out that this vacation will not be absent of controversy. A shadowed doppleganger of Mario has appeared on the luxurious Isle Delfino and is covering the island in mysterious goop and when Mario arrives on the scene, he gets blamed for the mess. With a new water tank named FLUDD on his back, Mario proceeds to clean up the entire island and to clear his name.

I wanted this game to be my big summer Let’s Play, but I unfortunately took a bit longer in finishing some of my other projects, making this game appear rather late in the summer months. Regardless, this is a game that I have wanted to do since my initial completion of Super Mario 64 back in 2013 and with just enough summer left in this year, I knew it was the perfect time to begin this game. Unfortunately, I got plagued with some computer issues during this project, but as soon as I got them fixed, I was right back on track.

The Simpsons: Road Rage

The Simpsons: Road Rage

Game: The Simpsons: Road Rage
Start Date: September 22nd, 2012
Runtime: 5 hours
Videos: 24

Mr. Burns is once again up to no good when he becomes the owner of the town’s transit system, with his buses powered by nothing but pure radiation. In response, Homer starts his own taxi service and before long, all of Springfield is now supporting the cause to put Mr. Burns out of business!

I had gotten numerous requests to do The Simpsons Game and this game as Let’s Play projects, and when I saw this game just sitting in my library, realizing that it had been a long time since The Simpsons: Hit and Run, I figured it was time to play this game for the viewers. Not only did I play every stage and play every character, but I also covered the “Mission” mode as well and showed off a few holiday themed characters.

Pikmin 2

Pikmin 2

 Game: Pikmin 2
Start Date: December 20th, 2011
Runtime: 18 hours
Videos: 71

Captain Olimar has returned from his deep-space adventure to find that his employer has been dealt a crippling economic blow. With no money, and possibly no job, Olimar takes this news badly as his ship is now taken away from him. During this, a souvenir from the pikmin planet is noticed by his boss, and after evaluating the treasure, he finds that the trinket is worth quite a bit of money. So now, it’s up to Olimar, and his new companion Louie, to wipe the planet clean of its treasures in hopes of finding a cure for Hocotate Freight’s economic downpour. This adventure will take us to new places, force us to face new dangers, and maybe even meet some new pikmin!

With the success of my Pikmin projects (or rather, the two projects I did on Pikmin 1), Pikmin 2 was a game that was heavily requested of me for a very long time. I finally decided it was time to take on this beast of a game in late 2011. Does SlimKirby have the ability and the skills to be an excellent Pikmin 2 player? I think my results at the end of the project will answer all of your questions, but for now, this was an excellent playthrough to close out 2011 and enter with in 2012! I also covered the game’s Challenge Mode as well!

Pikmin

Pikmin

Game: Pikmin
Start Date: April 18th, 2011
Runtime: 5 hours
Videos: 18

Captain Olimar, an intergalactic space traveler and family man, was taking his spaceship out for another leisurely ride, but along the way he came face-to-face with a deadly meteor that sends his spaceship crashing down to an unknown planet. When he comes to, Olimar realizes that he needs to repair his spaceship in a very strict time limit, otherwise he will fall victim to the planet’s deadly creatures and obnoxious, atmospheric gases! He is not alone however, as he will gain the help of the planet’s friendly plant creatures, known as Pikmin, to help him accomplish this nearly impossible feat!

This was the seventh “replay” project I did on my channel, as I had done some videos for the game at a prior date, but due to the poorer quality of the project, I decided to redo the project with a modern spin. The videos for the old project are still available for viewing on my channel, but there is no longer a playlist associated with that version.

Like Donkey Kong 64, Pikmin was another game that I felt I needed to redo and make it better, as the game itself is truly a work of art. Like most of my replay projects, this decision was met with nothing but affirmation and positive responses. Not only that, but I feel like my playthrough was done in a very excellent manner, being one of my best runthroughs that I’ve ever done! I also covered the Challenge Mode as well, something absent from the original project.
