SSR #24: “One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish”

Introduction:
The Simpsons have been on the air for 30 years now, but have we considered the possibility of a main character of the Simpson family dying? Sure, the show has dealt with character death before, and some characters have been flat out retired, but what if a character of Homer’s status were to pass on? How would the world be different? How would his family react? How would he handle his last moments? Well, interestingly enough, Season 2 just so happened to have an entire episode dealing with that, and today, we are going to be taking a look at that episode.

The Walking Dead: Michonne

The genius of what makes Telltale’s Walking Dead series so great is that they can take elements of what makes The Walking Dead so great and make their own story where the game player can make their own choices and decisions and watch as the story around them unravels. After Season 2, the idea to make a new DLC came around, but not for the current story in progress, but rather for a character from the television and graphic novel series; the samurai-sword wielding chick named Michonne.

So with Season 3 around the horizon and nothing horror or survival related to cover for this year’s Halloween month, I figured I would go light this year and hit Season 3 hard next year when every episode is out and I can do it all in one smooth strike. So for this year, I decided to do the Michonne DLC that came out earlier this year, a three episode/part short-story that follows Michonne’s journey in between Issues #126 and #139 of the graphic novel, where she mysteriously disappears from the Rick Grimes group. It was an interesting piece of DLC and I’m glad I got to cover it.

The Stanley Parable

There once was a man named Stanley. He worked in a typical office building and did a very simple job of pushing buttons. He was very good at following instruction, but what happens when you, the video gamer, gain control of Stanley? Will you do what Stanley is told? Or will you deviate away in an uncharacteristic act of betrayal?

I feel like of all the projects I’ve done on my channel, this was the biggest departure from the norm. What was the result? A game of absolute hilarity! I can honestly say that I haven’t laughed this hard while playing a game ever in my entire life and I owe this pleasuring experience to The Stanley Parable!

Captain Viridian and his crew crash land on a very strange planet, which seems to be an alternate dimension filled with all kinds of dangers, obstacles, gameplay mechanics, and spikes! Yes, you can’t forget the spikes! Navigate Viridian through these dangers to find his lost crew and hopefully make it out of this place before something weird happens!

So I had finished The Maze Game Remastered and my laptop still wasn’t fixed yet, which means I needed another game to hold audiences for the time being. I went to my Steam account and saw one of my all-time favorite indie-developed games, VVVVVV. When I first played this game, I knew that I wanted to do an LP of it someday, so I figured now was as good of a time as any!
