Hi-diddly-ho eveybody, SlimKirby here, and you have reached a brand new section of my website dedicated to a personal project of mine. As some of you may or may not know from my Let’s Play channel, I am a big fan of The Simpsons. The Simpsons have been co-existing alongside me for throughout my entire life. In fact, the series debuted on television just before I turned one-year-old and if you want to be extremely technical, the cartoon family had been existing well before then as a series of animated shorts on the Tracy Ullman Show back in 1987. I think it’s incredible to see how long the show has lasted, considering how it’s still going after this many years, and although I would not call the newer seasons and episodes “top quality,” I still think it’s at least watchable in some respects as opposed to other cartoon shows which are unwatchable in all respects. It’s all subjective at the end of the day though, as there are many die-hard Simpson fans that would say my fairly neutral standpoint is still an insult to the top quality of the Simpsons golden years, but as we all know; fandoms are silly in that regard.
Anyway, during the most recent Simpsons marathon that occurred on FXX in November and December 2016 (an event that aired all 600+ Simpsons episodes nonstop for a period of two weeks), I got really into talking about The Simpsons on Twitter and live-tweeting during the episodes. It got to a point where I wanted to keep on doing it, but knew it was going to be impossible due to the fact that I was going to be unable to watch all of them. I do love The Simpsons, but I was not going to endanger my life and my health by not sleeping for two weeks. My solution? I decided to step down from the task temporarily and work on something on a much grander scale. That’s when this idea came up.
So this is what I am going to do; I’m going to be doing little write-ups for every episode of The Simpsons. These write-ups will feature a break-down of the episode itself, memorable and funny quotes from the episode, my personal feelings about the episode, and anything else I feel like discussing in regards to it. Now, before everyone starts taking bets on how long I keep this up before I get lazy and stop doing this; covering every episode isn’t really my plan here. Ultimately, it would be cool if I can get to that point, but I’m very realistic when it comes to planning things out and I’m not about to promise six-hundred written essays in a specified period of time. There is no way that would work for me, especially considering I’m already a Youtuber first and a Twitch streamer second. I’m not going to give myself any deadlines either, so don’t expect an episode every single day or a certain amount of episodes per week either. I’m really going to be testing the waters with this project and I figure the best way to do that is by going easy at first until I can make a routine out of it. Then, once I’m in tune with the process and how everything will work, from there I can start making some real progress.
So I hope you guys are ready to embark on adventure, an adventure filled with lots of laughter, lots of feels, and many, many donuts. Mmmm…donuts!
