Dr. Wily is up to his old tricks again (I feel like this is just a carbon-copy statement that will just be at the beginning of every Mega Man LP for this archive, because it’s so freaking true and relevant) as we go back into another one of the Game Boy handheld installments! This time we are looking at the midpoint of the Game Boy series as we take a look at Mega Man III.

This was originally planned for a 2019 project, but since I cut down my upload schedule to a very significant degree for the year, I didn’t have as much time to cover this game in that calendar year, even with how short of a game it is. It will be the first mini-project of 2020 though, and probably not a bad way to start 2020 off either with some familiarity! Let’s take down that evil doctor once again!

Pikmin 3

The planet of Koppai, a very different planet from Hocotate, is facing some major hardships and food shortages. As a result of this, 3 brave explorers must venture out into the galaxy and find some other edible matter to save the lives of their entire planet. However, they have no idea what’s in store when they land on the planet of PNF-404, a planet with much food, but also the location of what’s become to be known to us as…the Pikmin planet! It’s time for Pikmin 3!

Not only was it awhile between Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 3 in terms of their release dates, but it had also been around 6-7 years since I last covered a Pikmin game on my Youtube channel. It was a lot of fun going back to this series, especially since I wasn’t even as prepared or as knowledgeable about this game compared to my adventures in this series, and I think it brought some unique and more chill commentary this time around as well. It was honestly a great project to wrap up 2019 with, and I’m glad I made the call to cover it! There also may be some extra content coming in the coming months/years in the form of the Challenge/Mission Mode, so you can expect to look forward to that as well!

The Walking Dead: The Final Season (Season 4)

Clementine is back for one last run through the world of The Walking Dead and the zombie apocalypse, and I gotta say, we actually got pretty close to not being able to say that, with the unfortunate circumstances behind Telltale Games for this final season. Let’s just say some real serious stuff went down with Telltale, putting the fate of this game’s conclusion in absolute jeopardy. Thankfully though, Skybound Games stepped up to the plate, were able to get the original game’s staff (mostly) on board, and finish Clementine’s Saga once and for-all! And hey, it looks like she ended up finding AJ after all!

There isn’t much I have to say beyond what I have already said in the previous paragraph, but I will say as an addendum that even I had issues with getting this project started as well. Due to the ownership changes of this product, and some other unique and unfortunate circumstances, I was unable to get all of my save files back to continue with in this last season, but thankfully the game offered an alternative to craft the narrative, at least around the bigger decisions we had made thus far, which allowed me a bit more peace of mind. You guys know I absolutely loved this series as I covered it and I am happy to see that I have seen it through its full completion. There are other Walking Dead games out there, but at this time, I don’t really see myself covering them unless they are of the same vein of this game.

This is the page for just the fourth season. if you would like to take a look at the other seasons of this game, check out the following links to their respective pages.

Crash Bandicoot: Warped

Crash Bandicoot: Warped

After the success of the first two games, it’s no surprise that Playstation owners wanted even more of the bandicoot. He was becoming Sony’s answer to Mario, after all, so Naughty Dog decided to put together one last platformer for the PS1 era of Crash in the form of Crash Bandicoot: Warped. It seems like Dr. Neo Cortex is up to his misdeeds again, but he may not be the one truly pulling the strings here, as an evil mask doppleganger by the name of Uka-Uka makes his debut in this title. And now that Cortex has lost the crystals, the villains decide to play with time travel to go back and acquire them in a different means. Of course this means Crash and his sister Coco are here to stop the bad guys once again, once and for all.

Like the last two playthroughs, this LP was done on the recently-released Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy, and once again, I am playing the Switch version. I was actually pleasantly surprised with the results of this playthrough. Not only did I take on a bit more this time, with the time trials and everything, but everything kind of flowed together very nicely for this run. I felt the commentary was good, there were some good moments, and in general, it was just a nice send-off for the final game of the trilogy.

Stunt Race FX

When people think of Nintendo and racing games, it’s no doubt that Mario Kart is probably top on that list. However, Nintendo has tried to make other racing games before, and that’s where Stunt Race FX comes in. Made as a product of the SNES Super FX Chip, this game tried to use the newfound technology to make a fun racing games with some interesting 3D environments and car/object models (which were probably more impressive back then as they are now). The game unfortunately never really took off and only a handful of people probably remember this game back in the days when it first came out, but Nintendo hadn’t completely forgotten about it with a couple of interesting nods and references here and there throughout the years.

This LP was probably the most “out-of-nowhere” project for me in 2019 and that’s because Nintendo announcing that this game would be available again (with this game not having a re-release in any way, shape or form since its debut) for the Switch Online service completely came out of nowhere for me personally. I had experience renting this game a long time ago from my town’s video rental store and I remember having some fun with the game as a result of it, but as mentioned above, Nintendo didn’t really seem that interested in re-releasing it for any Virtual Console or e-shop online catalog. However, leave it to Nintendo to destroy my expectations I guess. This LP will just be a quick and simple playthrough of all the modes of the game, including a quick multiplayer session with my good buddy OdinSpack!
